Reflecting on My Transition from Clinician to Healthcare Innovation

After nearly 25 years at Barrow Neurologic Institute, one of the country’s foremost centers of excellence in neuroscience, I’m stepping into a new phase of my career with a deep sense of gratitude. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work alongside pioneering colleagues in neurosurgery, neurology, and neuroradiology and to have had the opportunity to train some of the finest next-generation neuroradiologists.

Throughout my time at Barrow, I was able to contribute to meaningful advancements in imaging, robotics, and telemedicine—fields that have only deepened my conviction that we must rethink and reshape healthcare. For everything, there is a season, and I feel that my talents now align more with innovation than with diagnostic imaging alone. As I move forward, I’m guided by a true north: the belief that we need to fundamentally improve healthcare and rethink the way we care for each other ….at scale.

My next chapter will focus on this vision, and I’m excited to pursue projects that can bring impactful change. I’ll be investing much of my energy into VitalChat, where I’m focused on creating technology that truly engage patients, families, and providers at a new level. This company offers a unique opportunity to bring people together in healthcare, making experiences richer and more accessible for everyone involved.

To everyone I’ve had the privilege of working with at the Barrow- and outside the BNI: I hope I’ve left a positive mark. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the future of healthcare, and I look forward to our paths crossing again in this new journey.
