Reflecting on the longest 365 days known to (wo)man
Jenna McDonnell
I help teams & leaders elevate work through improv, play, and experiential learning
One year ago, I packed up my laptop from the office to prepare for (what I thought would be) a week of working from home. Since March 12th, 2020, I've:
- seen all of our planned 2020 in-person events get canceled
- witnessed our founder and our entire team quickly pivot to virtual training that maintained the quality and spirit of our in-person workshops
- bought a real desk chair and a new desk
- felt isolated and like my daily efforts were going straight into the void
- figured out how to build new relationships with incredibly creative leaders
- learned what our clients really needed
- listened to BLM activists and dug into the work I need to do to be actively anti-racist and to use my privilege to take action in true allyship
- felt the loss of lives and livelihood in our nation
- saw us come together to put a real leader back in charge
- felt the impact of my daily efforts reap rewards many, many, many months later
- regained my optimism seeing the silver linings of the pandemic and felt cautiously hopeful for what 2021 will bring us.
To quote Hamilton, "the world will never be the same." But we're still here together, more resilient, empathetic, and grateful than ever before.

4 年Love this article, Jenna! So grateful that we've gotten the chance to know each other this year. And good choice on the desk & office chair - still need to get on that. :)

4 年Incredible reflections, Jenna. Half of these achievements could not have been done without your hardwork and thoughtfulness. Thank you for being you!

4 年Jenna - you are a gem. I'll ditto all of these, and raise you how much resilience I witnessed from YOU and this team this year. It was NOT easy, but I'm so proud of us. HUGS.
