Reflecting on a great year...

Dear EarthRanger Community,??

Thanks to your efforts, what an extraordinary year 2024 has been for conservation. As we embark on EarthRanger’s 10th year, we’re more inspired than ever by the stories of determination, resilience, and progress you and your teams have shared. Hearing how you’re using EarthRanger to protect natural ecosystems and biodiversity is an honor and fuels our passion for improving how we can support you.??

A Year of Growth

Today, EarthRanger is in use at over 600 sites across 74 countries. With your help, over 23,000 animals and 47,000 field personnel are being tracked in real-time. As of this year, there are also 13 nation-wide deployments of EarthRanger underway in countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, and Mongolia. This growth wouldn’t be possible without the integral role of our deployment partners, who helped set up 85 new EarthRanger sites just this year.

You Make the Difference?

But the real impact comes from you. Whether safeguarding wildlife, restoring landscapes, or protecting personnel and communities from human-wildlife conflict, your tireless work is making a difference. Throughout our 2024 workshops, which served 700 EarthRanger users from more than 50 countries, we were reminded of the power of collaboration. Your successes underscore how technologies like EarthRanger, combined with dedication and expertise, can accelerate conservation.

Shaping EarthRanger to Support Your Work

This year, EarthRanger evolved to support your work in new and meaningful ways. EarthRanger Mobile continued to transform how field teams operate, allowing you to see and navigate to tracked subjects, monitor patrols, and observe wildlife movements–all from the field. Over 14,000 of you have used the app in the last month alone, putting actionable insights in your hands.?

On EarthRanger Web (the browser-based application you’re familiar with), we’ve expanded your capabilities to enhance conservation worldwide. New features–such as SOS alerts and analyzers that flag wildlife behaviors, unusual movements, or patterns–are helping you draw important insights to inform your next decision.

Through Gundi, a new self-administration portal gives you more control over your integrations, making mixing and matching the best technology for your unique challenges easier. With 11 new integrations launched this year–including services like eBird and Movebank, wildlife trackers such as Druid and ATS, and Tahmo, a weather station–you can now access more tools to help advance your efforts.?

What’s Coming in 2025

Looking ahead to 2025, we’re eager to release Ecoscope–a powerful data analysis and reporting platform designed to bring your data to life. With powerful analyses, rich dashboards, interactive maps, and seamless integration with the EarthRanger platform, Ecoscope will make it easier to analyze, share, and act on the troves of data you are collecting.

Thank You For Your Dedication

As we close the year, we want to express our deepest thanks for everything you do to protect wildlife and their habitats. The members of the EarthRanger team have joined this mission because of our deep, personal commitment to the outcomes that we are all striving for together.? Your work is helping shape a brighter future for wildlife, communities, and our planet. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!??

Wishing you a safe and happy holiday season,?
