Reflecting on Armed Forces Day
For me, this weekend’s Armed Forces Day was an important moment of reflection on the vital contributions and personal sacrifices hundreds of thousands of people make, keeping our country safe.
It was a chance for all of us to celebrate and express our thanks for front line service personnel and the people who served before them.
It was also an opportunity to think about the role of the sometimes unsung heroes, the families and friends of serving members of the armed services and the broader supply chain, who enable and support service personnel to protect all of us.
I know that at Capita, we are immensely proud of the work we do to support the services and the key role that former service personnel play in our business. From 2012, we have supported armed forces communities across the UK, delivering over 60 separate contracts in partnership with different service branches.
From the Army’s Recruitment Partnering Programme, to the Defence Fire & Rescue Project and delivering Royal Navy training, our teams see the dynamic work of our services up close every day and work in partnership to help them fulfil their mission.
I have had the privilege of attending many of the bases and stations where we support personnel up and down the country. I am always impressed by their professionalism, tenacity and courage.
Throughout the Covid 19 pandemic, we have seen Britain’s armed forces up close in our communities, building vaccine sites and supporting community testing, and I want to take the opportunity to thank every single one of them for this and the work they continue to do keeping our country safe.
