Reflecting on the ACEP 2017 conference
Health IT -Vendors, Consulting Firms, Recuriters, Startups may find this informative
A professional partner of FormatHealth invited us to participate at ACEP 2017 in Washington, DC. As a vendor of the event we only inhabited the Exhibitor floor at the Walter E. Washington convention center. The concentration and quality of the foot traffic exceeded my expectations which fell somewhere between HIMSS and a regional show. Physicians, Nurses, Executives stopped by to name a few. On the floor were booths from the CIA to Picis, Meditech, T-Systems, Infinity Massage Chairs, Gaumard, to Biofire, I-Simulate, Butterfly, Locums Tenems and consulting firms. The back corner was dedicated to start ups. Telemedicine Magazine staffed a section of it with Medical Students showing some of the latest and greatest technologies ranging from Drones used in care delivery to a disposable patch that was to rival the Holter Monitor by syncing with a mobile phone.
In the simulation area Gaumard had by far the coolest thing I've seen to date. It was a training mannequin who's eye would dilate and contract as exposed to light for simulation around an eye exam. In the 'I have no idea why you are at this event' category Infinity had 8 massage chairs offering guests the opportunity to a 15 minute trial-Absolutely incredible after standing for 6 hours straight! In the Sonography section I met inventor Nevada who developed a tool integrating to a mobile device for capturing images. The product is Butterfly and its demonstration was nothing short of impressive and informative.
M&A guys roamed the floor stopping by to chat ever so often. No sales of our product but for a young company like FormatHealth it was an excellent opportunity to network and build product awareness to the consumers who may one day use our products. If you were on the fence about attending this I would suggest you consider the next!
Thank you Picis, Harris Corporation for your hospitality! Getting to know you guys was the highlight of my trip.
