Reflecting on 25 Years in the Charity Sector: A Journey of Purpose and Impact

As I prepare to embark on the next chapter of my career journey, I find myself reflecting on the incredible 25-year crusade I've had in the charity sector—a journey that has shaped me, defined my purpose, and ignited a passion for making a difference in the lives of others.

My journey into the charity sector was unexpected, born out of adversity when my ballet career was halted due to ill health. It was during this challenging time that I discovered my true calling: to help children and communities access the opportunities and resources that I once took for granted.

Over the past two and a half decades, I've had the privilege of working across the Midlands and Yorkshire, tirelessly advocating for various causes and raising over £30 million for charities dear to my heart. Among these endeavours, my most recent role at Active Fusion stands out as a testament to the power of collective action and unwavering dedication.

During my tenure at Active Fusion, I had the honour of steering the organisation, alongside with Director Lindsy James, towards unprecedented success, culminating in the prestigious "Charity of the Year" accolade twice in the past three years as Deputy Director. At the heart of our mission was a commitment to amplifying the voices of those in need and empowering communities to thrive.

One of my proudest achievements at Active Fusion must be spearheading the development of a compelling brand and case for support—a "charity-first" story brand that resonated deeply with supporters and stakeholders alike. Through strategic campaigns such as "10 More Years," we not only raised vital funds but also amplified awareness, reaching over 80,000 children, young people and their families who relied on our services for support and guidance.

As I prepare to bid farewell to Active Fusion in just three weeks’ time, I do so with a profound sense of gratitude and optimism. While my time with the organisation may be coming to an end, its impact will endure, forever etched in the lives it has touched and the communities it has transformed.

To my colleagues, partners, and supporters at Active Fusion and beyond, I extend my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering dedication and belief in our shared vision. Together, we have proven that with passion, perseverance, and purpose, anything is possible. As I embark on this new chapter of my journey, I carry with me the lessons learned, the memories cherished, and the unwavering belief that the greatest impact is yet to come.

With gratitude, Bec
