Reflecting On 2024 - Your Year In Review

Few of us take the time to reflect on the year that’s just past, simply skipping onto the next year and the next set of goals. It’s also human nature to remember the failures, the low points and the set-backs rather than the successes, so it’s useful to remind yourself of what went right.

The best predictor of future performance in past performance, so taking an honest look at your 2024 can help you see where you’ve grown, what lessons you’ve learned, the successes you had, and set you up to achieve your goals in 2025.

Here’s a simple 5 step process to review and reflect on your year, so that you can power into 2025 feeling positive and aligned with your values and goals.

1. Reflect on Key Areas

Break the review into different life areas. Clients can rate or reflect on each of these aspects on a scale of 1-10 or through journaling:

  • Personal Growth: What skills, habits, or mindset shifts did I develop? What am I most proud of in terms of personal development? ??
  • Career/Work: Did I achieve my career or business goals? How satisfied am I with my professional growth and accomplishments???
  • Relationships: Reflect on personal relationships (family, friends, romantic). What strengthened, and what could be improved???
  • Health & Wellness: What were my physical and mental health habits like? What progress did I make with my fitness, nutrition, and overall well-being???
  • Finances: How did I manage my finances? Did I meet my financial goals, such as savings, investments, or income???
  • Purpose & Values: Did I live according to my values? Were there moments of alignment, and where did I stray??

2. Evaluate Key Achievements and Challenges

Wins: List the top three things you're most proud of achieving this year. Reflect on why they mattered.??

Challenges: Identify any obstacles or challenges faced. What lessons did they bring? How can these insights help moving forward??

3. Identify Patterns

Look for recurring themes or patterns in behaviour, thoughts, and emotions. Did you experience burnout? Did certain relationships drain or uplift you???

Identify habits, thought patterns, or external circumstances that either contributed to success or held you back.

4. Reflect

Based on the reflections above, what are the top three takeaways or intentions for 2025???

5. Celebrate!

Remember - celebrate successes, no matter how small!
