Reflecting on 2024 and looking ahead to 2025.

As we approach the end of another year, I find myself reflecting on both the challenges we have faced and the successes we have achieved at Barnardos this past year. At Barnardos, our mission remains unwavering: to be there for vulnerable children and families in Ireland when they need us most. We believe that childhood lasts a lifetime. We work with children not just at their lowest point, but throughout their childhood.

Every day, Barnardos Project Workers witness the profound effects of adverse childhood experiences - be it poverty, parental mental health issues, abuse, neglect, addiction, separation, or bereavement. Yet, alongside these challenges, they also see the transformative power of generosity from our supporters. Donations, whether from fundraising events, regular giving or contributions to our charity shops are crucial in enabling us to change a child’s story from one of despair, anger and pain to optimism, contentment and hope. In fact, the enthusiasm and creativity Barnardos' supporters show in raising funds is truly inspiring! It's something we are all incredibly grateful for - it's also why I love what I do. This unwavering support is the reason Barnardos can continue to make a difference.
