Reflecting on 2023

Happy Q1, everybody! It’s been a wonderful year here at Miaplaza, and we are so excited to share the accomplishments of our wonderful team of teachers and staff. From ramping up lesson production, to training new rockstar customer service agents and moderators, to doubling down on our content creation efforts, our whole team deserves a round of applause! New office in Berlin, Germany

While we are known for our amazing work-life balance and remote opportunities (check out From the Classroom to the Globe!), we found that our new office has been a stellar opportunity to host training and onboarding sessions for our software development and UX teams in Europe. Of course, no code bootcamp is complete without a fabulous dinner party with plenty of traditional German fare!?

More than doubled our current enrollment

We enjoyed welcoming a record number of new students this year, more than doubling our previous enrollment! We were also successful in growing our online private high school, which saw a 275% increase in enrollment in 2023. With the growing popularity of #homeschooling our education platform has seen explosive growth over the last year, with no sign of slowing down!

Added over 60 new employees

Our company has many diverse positions, from teachers, writers, full-stack developers, actors, customer service agents, social media managers, and more! This year, we’ve welcomed 60 wonderful people to our Miaplaza team! Their talent and hard work create a positive atmosphere where ideas flourish, challenges are met with enthusiasm, and success is celebrated as a collective achievement. In addition, they’re all super nice and great to collaborate and chat with! Thank you all for making Mia such a great place to work!

Moderated over 3 million items

Our priority is to provide children around the world with a fun and safe learning environment, which we accomplish with our moderation team! Our content moderators are responsible for screening all user-generated content to ensure our online community’s safety. This year, we’ve screened over 3 MILLION drawings, videos, newspaper articles, messages, and more.

Reached over 20,700,000 people through social media

Our social media team has been hard at work all year, creating fun and informational content for millions of parents and families. From fun crafts and homeschooling advice to our amazing discounts, sales, and collaboration opportunities, we wanted to give a big round of applause for those spreading the word about Mia to millions of learners across the globe!

Released over 1,500 new lessons

Our content team has been working tirelessly to create and maintain top-notch educational content for thousands of families worldwide! This year, we’ve released over 1,500 brand new lessons, created around 1,200 new lesson videos, and sent over half a million Slack messages to make sure we get things just right! In fact, we had our second-largest content release in Miaplaza history just last week. None of this would have been possible without our awesome pedagogy managers, content writers, copyeditors, actors, and designers!?

Made significant upgrades to our software and hardware

Migrating servers is no easy feat, but our incredible development team made it as painless as possible. With a large increase in our user base, we needed to make sure we could handle the additional demand and still have room for those to come. Students can now enjoy a bigger, better, and faster learning experience thanks to our incredible development team!

It’s been a year of huge accomplishments for Miaplaza, and we are so excited to see what 2024 has in store for us! We’re looking forward to seeing how many new learners and wonderful people we’ll connect with in the new year. What are some of your favorite accomplishments you’ve achieved this year??
