Reflecting on 2023: A Journey of Love, Loss, and Learning

As we bid farewell to 2023, I find myself reflecting on a year that was nothing short of a rollercoaster. It's been a tapestry of triumphs and trials, punctuated with moments of joy and sorrow.

For those who've followed my journey beyond LinkedIn, you're aware of the profound loss I experienced recently – the passing of my beloved French Bulldog, Boston Harts. Boston was not just a pet; he was my confidant, my travel companion, and a significant part of my identity for nearly a decade. From the days of being an aspiring author to celebrating the success of my third book, Boston was by my side. His absence has left a void that words can hardly fill.

Every day, I find myself grappling with grief, a testament to the deep bond we shared. Boston was my first fur baby, and the day I lost him, it felt like a part of me faded away too. Amidst building a business, authoring books, and championing workplace change, caring for Boston was a constant in my life. His passing reminded me how easy it is to neglect our own need for support while we're busy supporting others.

In this moment of vulnerability, an unexpected gesture from friends brought a ray of light. They organized a dinner, not just in honor of Boston and me, but as an embodiment of love and laughter. Walking into the restaurant to find them wearing t-shirts with Boston's image was a moment of profound love and solidarity. It was a reminder that amidst life's inevitable battles, the warmth of friendship and community holds unparalleled power.

As I lay in bed that night, I realized that true success transcends professional accolades. It's also about the circle of friends and allies we build – those who stand with us during our lowest lows and highest highs. Ralph Waldo Emerson's words, “The only way to have a friend is to be a friend,” resonated deeply with me.

As 2023 draws to a close, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you – for your likes, shares, comments, and for choosing to work with me. You've been an integral part of my journey, and I eagerly look forward to connecting more in the coming year.

Here's to friendship, resilience, and new beginnings in 2024. Cheers to being great friends and allies!

I lost my dear, beloved, treasured fur-baby in the 2009 housing crash when my ex-husband showed up and stole her when I was at work. I cried for 8 years until one of my friends taught me how to get in touch with her. Now I can bring her through anytime I want to see her! DM me for details.
