Reflect 2021 before you Accelerate in 2022.

Keeping this letter short and sharing with you a simple framework for reflection.

365 days of 2021 have almost passed. 365 days of 2022, a clean slate coming our way. We are always filled with a certain level of excitement this time of the year for our new chapters. Housing strong intentions to make this year better than ever. Was 2021 a good year to talk about or you don't want to think about it? Each one of us will pick a unique experience. Every experience, every moment we face is a personalized lesson crafted for each one of us.

While we all think too much about what?could?lie ahead, we forget to absorb those good and bad moments that made us who we are today. These are opportunities and lessons we can reflect on. So, take some time now to ponder the year that was...

And while social media can do a cyber mashup of 2021 for you, i would urge you to take a pen and paper and reflect with this simple framework.

A pen and paper is what you need.

Take some time on your own to contemplate your personal life with a blank piece of paper or file and make a list with three headings;

  1. Flowers (what did you love)
  2. Weeds (what would you leave out)
  3. Fertilizer (what could you add or improve)

A very simple exercise that will give you meaningful insights. This exercise is best for those who are new to the art of reflection.

Ask yourself the following questions

  1. How did I grow in the past year?
  2. What was the single biggest challenge I overcame?
  3. Who needs to be acknowledged in my life? Is there anyone I should express gratitude to for what they have done for me or helped me with over the past 12 months.
  4. What were my most memorable, stand-out moments?
  5. Pick three words someone close to me would use to describe this year?
  6. What was the best thing I learned?
  7. What was I most grateful for?
  8. What was my single biggest time waster this year?
  9. Name a song that would be my soundtrack to the past year.
  10. Name the year. 2019 the year of..

Here wishing you a prosperous and healthy 2022 based on some sound reflection of 2021. Looking forward to stay connected and learn from each other experience. I came across this simple exercise in 2020 from an article written by Alice Coleman and it was an eye-opener.
