Reestablishing my Career and the challenges of Risk Taking after life changing injury

In 2011 I was a rising young executive within the University of Washington Healthy System. In September of that year I had a life altering car accident that left me with a brain injury. By January 2012 I had to resign. Ultimately I found another job within a few months and worked there for a few years while I recovered fully before leaving to get back on track.

I took a COO job with a privately owned radiology practice that turned out to be the wrong fit. After that I pulled out of final interviews with a renowned university health system to work with a friend in an Entrepreneurial first of its kind role. This all fell apart when the company pivoted to health insurance.

Today I have been in transition for the past 11 months and frustrated with the process.

I am an experienced, resilient, intuitive change agent that has led teams, managed $100M P&L and worked tirelessly to advance the service lines I have supported.

With one exception every role since my time at the University of Colorado Hospital has been a first of its kind role. I had to navigate, create and establish the role across the organizations I worked with.

So, how do I get selected for the operational leadership role I am seeking? Seems no one will "take a chance" on me.

Interestingly, every one of these past roles I was sought after.

I had a conversation with an insightful person last week - I lead from a highly ethical position. I am a critical thinker and always looking outside the box. Conflict never deters me and I always think of where the patient will be impacted.

We are navigating an unprecedented challenging time for healthcare and our country. My resilience, ability to connect and influence are assets to the right team.

Lets connect...

I am a disabled, educated BSN. I have 20 years knowledge to offer. However, if I can not produce mainstream I am put out to pasture. I have had two strokes and a pacemaker placement. I am disabled, not dead. I have a lot to offer a company. Companies need to be more personal or they are just out for numbers, not patient care. In the end, this will not work for a company.
