REEL GOOD: Glasgow launches new music festival called The Reeling

The new 5,000-capacity event will be a celebration of Scottish culture, creativity and community…

Taking place in Rouken Glen Park on 10-11 June, the two-day festival will host an impressive gender-balanced line-up and implement key sustainability initiatives, all while ensuring a fair working environment and first class experience for attendees.

Festival director, Michael Pellegrotti , told StandOutMagazine that the event will “foster a feeling of community and creativity”, utilising an “incredibly talented” team behind the scenes. “Despite being home to so many fantastic roots musicians, Glasgow has been longing for a summertime celebration of Scottish traditional and folk music”, says Pellegrotti. We believe it’s time to change that”.

As well as a performance-packed outdoor main stage, audiences can also expect dining experiences and family-friendly activities to get stuck into. Martin Gillespie is a member of the band Skerryvore and told Folk Radio that they “couldn’t be happier” to be a part of the first edition of The Reeling. It shows the strength of the Scottish folk music scene”.
