Reducing Stress Demands Proactive Action

Stress at work can have a significant impact on your overall well-being, productivity, and job satisfaction. It is important to take systematic and proactive steps to reduce stress and create a better work environment.?

In this article, I reveal some strategies to help you reduce stress, become more focused, and secure a psychosocially more satisfactory work environment.

Prioritize and manage your workload

Keep a list of tasks that need to be accomplished each day and prioritize them based on their importance and urgency. This way you don't need to remember everything and can focus on one activity in time.

Manage then your activities according to your set focus.

Remember, learning how to focus is a practical intrapersonal skill that everyone can learn.

Knowing how to focus and keeping your focus enables you to get things done. Aware monotasking is much more efficient than multitasking.

Practice relaxation and take breaks

It is essential to take breaks throughout the day, even if it's just for a few minutes. I recommend working 1,5 hours and then taking 15 to 20 minutes to relax.

During your break get up from your desk and take a walk, stretch or do something that helps you relax and recharge. However, make sure this relaxation isn't keeping your mind busy with social media.

Replacing busy with busy is not a break or relaxing.

The best relaxation is to seek and benefit from serenity or take a short walk. I prefer a moment in the open air or finding a quiet spot and keeping inner silence. It restores your inner wellness.

Set boundaries?

Set realistic boundaries and communicate them with your colleagues and superiors. Make sure to take on a realistic workload and keep your working hours to the limit that avoids stress. This matters as both negative and positive stress leads to burnout.

Setting boundaries and having good intrapersonal skills to support your work allows you to perform well under pressure.

Learn to evaluate your workload and dare to say "No".

Honest "No" also respects others, while taking on something and not delivering is bad for you and others.

Build healthy and supportive relationships

Build healthy and supportive relationships with your colleagues and superiors. This can create a supportive work environment where you feel comfortable discussing any issues or concerns.

And remember, healthy interpersonal relations are always based upon having good intrapersonal skills!

When you have good self-leadership, leading others and processes becomes easy.

Train your mind and take care of yourself

Make sure that you have access to proper mind training that boosts your inner wellness and secures you with a relaxed and calm mind.

Also, remember to take care of yourself outside of work.?

Seek serenity and do things that are healthy, allow self-development and boost your energy levels.

A fit mind thrives in all areas of life without external stimuli and emotional motivation.

Remember, all emotional motivation fades, while all inner motivation to solve something stays.

We truly need a mind health revolution, both for getting things done and for enjoying your relaxation.

If you notice warning signs seek support ASAP

In case of work-related overload seek support from your colleagues. In case of stress remember that reducing it ASAP is the key to preventing burnout.

Ask for the proactive mental wellness training when well and when feeling overwhelmed and stressed seek psychological help.

If you lack proactive mental wellness resources, find free resources here.

Talk to your HR department if you are experiencing stress or notice the nearing final stages of burnout or experiencing anxiousness. They should be able to provide you with the needed resources or guide you to find support before you fall ill.

Measure your stress level

As it is stress awareness month you can evaluate your stress level for free. Take a break and do that.?

Conclusion

Engage yourself in activities that help you relax and unwind such as training your mind, exercising your body, reading something meaningful and relaxing (avoid news and crime stories) or just spending time with loved ones.

Remember, it is essential to take proactive steps to reduce stress. Burnout, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues that develop throughout your life are all fully preventable.

However, stress reduction becomes easy only if you have a proper intrapersonal education.?

When you implement these strategies, you can reduce stress, become more focused, and secure a psychosocially healthier and more supportive work environment.

I completely agree. Taking regular breaks and engaging in activities that promote relaxation and mental clarity can help improve productivity and overall well-being. It's important to disconnect from technology and give our minds and bodies the time they need to recharge.
