Handling carryback in Tripper conveyors is often a challenge. To & fro movement of the conveyors, due to runback lead to belt damages from the scraper during belt runback. Hosch C2 scrapers proved very effective in handling runback and reducing carryback in a tripper conveyor at a 10 MTPA coal washery in Eastern India.?
Application?
1400mm Belt Width Tripper Conveyor, used for rake loading at a 10 MTPA Coal Washery in Eastern India.?
Challenges?
· Frequent shutdowns necessitated by excessive spillage?
· Significant use of manpower & machinery to remove spillage.?
Situation at hand:
· Ineffective scraping by existing scrapers due to wet nature of material.?
· Need for additional equipment (V-plough) at the extended part of the conveyor belt to divert the spillage material from getting accumulated at the stationary head pulley end.?
Solution:?
HDPUL as pre-scraper and technologically-advanced C2 metallic bladed-scraper as primary scraper was proposed to handle the existing set of problems.
Results:?
Customer still uses the V-plough as a diverter, but has achieved significant savings through the following benefits?
· Reduction of spillage from almost 230 tons / month to 2.5 tons / month?
· Reduction in manpower required for removing spillage reduced from 100 man-days to 8 man-days per month?
· Reduction in truck deployment for transporting spilled material from 25 days to 4 days per month
