Reduced car park maintenance - start from Construction
Longer service life, and lower cost, from Day 1.
Car parks are infamous for the maintenance needed, and it is critical that concrete protection happens early.
The longer it's left, the higher the cost will be, and more frequent.
What's needed is a system that will give?longer service life and reduced running costs - and also ticks off boxes at construction stage.
Highly needed:
- Complete waterproofing, for basements or rooftop car parks
- Protection from chemical attack (carbonation from exhaust fumes)
- Abrasion resistance and anti-dusting
- An end-to-end approach!
During construction, what system will offer the complete package?
Longer service life and reduced maintenance.
De Sitter's law-of-fives indicates each phase of deterioration concrete is 5 times more costly to maintain or remediate.
For every $1 not spent on proactive protection, it turns into
$5 spent on minor maintenance,
$25 spent on repairs for major damage, or

$125 spent on replacement.
There are a couple of ways to look at this, as this post shows.
Case Study - Rundle St UPark
This was a retro-treatment, but still effected great results.
The 40-year-old UPark in Rundle Street, Adelaide, was showing obvious signs of concrete ageing.
The asset owners were not?ready to demolish the structure due to the cost of replacement. Therefore a solution was looked for, that would remediate the existing concrete and deliver an extension of the service life.
The asset owners were looking for a service life extension of 10 years for this structure. Even the immediate results were eye-opening!
Have a look at the case study here.
If your approach to protecting concrete structures is to do it during construction, with holistic / complete protection, you'll probably be interested in INFRA-TECT.
