Do you find yourself wondering:
- where can I find my next client;
- what do I need to do to attract my next client?
- why can't I just post and attract a client or sell my service without being salesy?
As a coach, you already know the importance of setting up your client avatar, and if you have a love/hate relationship with the ideal client avatar exercise, you might refer to this exercise as something else...your genius client, your yes client, and all the other catchy phrases spewed by well-meaning 10K package business coaches, (who must know what they are talking about, how else are they reaching the 80K plus months you are dreaming about?) use to say this isn't an ideal client avatar exercise, for the ideal client avatar exercise.
It is a foundational exercise because it gets you really clear on who you are talking to when you post your content. Maybe. And it is a BIG MAYBE that has a simple fix.
Often, we glide or grimace through this exercise without giving much thought to what our words mean for us. We use coachy terms, that we've heard other coaches use, without stopping to consider, what does that even mean...to you.
Take for example the word 'coachable'. I have literally heard hundreds of people say they want to work with clients who are coachable. Heck, I've said I want to work with people who are coachable. What does that even mean, really? I'm confident that "coachable" means something different to everyone.
For one person it might mean:
They do what I say and do;
For someone else it might mean:
They do what I say and not what I do;
For another:
Someone who achieves success in my program means they were coachable
For me 'coachable' means:
you are clear in what you want to achieve;
you recognize that you are not there yet;
you don't try to sugarcoat why you aren't there yet;
you recognize on some level you are the only thing standing between yourself and your goals;
you are willing to explore your emotions and reflect on patterns of self-sabotage;
you are willing to lean into gifts gleaned from self-sabotaging behaviors;
you are willing to consciously decide to shift; or
consciously decide to refuse to change any particular behavior, because the awareness of conscious refusal can create enough space for a transformation and miracles to enter the room.
Do you see how specific that is? And how many talking points I can gather as I recalibrate or #spellmyword?
Do this and you won't have to use
- NLP;
- dark psychology; or
- manipulation techniques to magnetize ideal prospects to you.
Simply because, when you are clear, you reduce the static and your signal is clear. Your light is an illuminated beacon calling people you know you want to work with.
