In the era where technology is thriving and infrastructure development is at its peak, often we overlook the overall energy consumption of our buildings. Commercial buildings, such as offices, business parks, and universities, etc, come under some of the highest energy-consuming infrastructures.
Keeping in mind the environmental challenges that we are facing currently, we should focus more on using a sustainable approach and long-term energy-saving techniques. This can be done by improving the overall building's design and its operation.
Advanced and modern technologies can help a lot in reducing overall energy consumption. For example, elevator and lift manufacturers are now coming up with energy-efficient technologies that help in saving energy.
Below are some of the Energy-efficient technologies used in Elevators-
1) Gearless Drives: Adoption of PMSM motor with inverter ( IPM) control that saves energy up to 30 % over-geared drives
2) Regenerative Drives (Energy-saving control system) that returns regenerated energy from the motor into the building's internal power network for re-use.
3) Software and AI-based controls
4) Software to automatically control and adjust door open & close time
5) Internal sensors that can automatically turn off the lights, fans, music y in case if there is no hall call or car call, saving energy
6) Car Call Cancellation to cancel the wrong car call by pressing the floor button twice consecutively
7) Machine room-less drives designed with small footprint, better utilization of hoistway space, reduced overhead or pit, Rail bearing structure with minimum noise and vibration and low heat production, resulting in saving more energy
The investment made in such sustainable energy-saving technologies gives more return in the long run, benefitting both- the organization and environment as a whole.
Comment down below if you know more such Energy Efficient technologies that can be installed in buildings to save more energy.
