BMC AMI Fast Path Online Suite, a part of the BMC AMI Fast Path for IMS? solution, consists of the following products:

  • BMC AMI Fast Path?Online Analyzer?for IMS?(formerly known as the Fast Path Online Analyzer/EP product)
  • BMC AMI Fast Path Online Image Copy?for IMS?(formerly known as the Fast Path Online Image Copy/EP product)
  • BMC AMI Fast Path?Online Reorg?for IMS?(formerly known as the Fast Path Online Reorg/EP product)


The BMC AMI Fast Path Online Suite also provides offline maintenance solutions for IMS data entry databases (DEDBs) which the customer can use to perform database analysis and reorganizations within the batch maintenance window with minimal database downtime. So even though we call them “Online” products, they also provide all the offline capabilities a customer needs.


BMC AMI Fast Path?Online Analyzer?for IMS, BMC AMI Fast Path Online Image Copy?for IMS?and BMC AMI Fast Path?Online Reorg?for IMS are available as stand-alone/individual products; however, when used as a comprehensive online DEDB maintenance suite, the products provide significant advantages as compared to their use as individual stand-alone products. The BMC AMI Fast Path Online Suite?of products let the customer complete a broad range of database maintenance and analysis tasks.


BMC AMI Fast Path Online Suite?of products help the customers meet their growing demand for 24x7 availability of data to support business-critical applications. Using the BMC AMI Fast Path Online Suite?of products, customers can complete a wide range of database maintenance, analysis, and image copy tasks without taking business-critical databases offline. Customers can use the BMC AMI Fast Path Online Suite?of products to perform database maintenance, analysis, and image copy tasks simultaneously - without interrupting the availability of data?to applications that must run continually to serve their business.

The products in the BMC AMI Fast Path Online Suite can be used with each other when performing DEDB maintenance, analysis, and image-copying tasks in an environment where 24x7 data availability is critical.

  • The online DEDB reorganization function can concurrently invoke the online DEDB analysis function so that the customer can gather statistical information about their Fast Path database area and validate its pointers at the same time they are implementing an online, non-disruptive database reorganization.
  • The online DEDB reorganization function can also concurrently invoke the online image copy creation function so that the customer can simultaneously image copy a Fast Path database area during an online reorganization.
  • The online image copy creation function can in turn concurrently invoke the online DEDB analysis function so that the customer can gather statistical information about their Fast Path database area and validate its pointers simultaneously with the creation of an online image copy.

  • The BMC AMI Fast Path?Online Analyzer?for IMS?product provides functions that can help the customer analyze the content and structure of DEDBs?faster while they are online,?without database downtime.
  • The online DEDB data extract function lets the customer?extract?full or partial segment data from DEDBs while they are online to IMS.
  • The optional concurrent analysis function enables online analysis of a DEDB with reduced overhead.


BMC AMI Fast Path Online Image Copy?for IMS

BMC AMI Fast Path Online Image Copy?for IMS?lets the customer take an image copy of the DEDB?while the DEDB is online,?without any database downtime.


BMC AMI Fast Path?Online Reorg?for IMS

  • The BMC AMI Fast Path?Online Reorg?for IMS?product provides reorganization functions that solve the issues of space reclamation or extension in DEDBs?while they are online, without database downtime.
  • The patented Intelligent Reorg feature recognizes and reorganizes only those UOWs that require reorganization without taking the database offline. Intelligent Reorg also enables fine-tuning a DEDB reorganization by?selecting only certain UOWs?for reorganization: only those UOWs which either extend into IOVF or exceed a threshold percent of disorganization.
  • The patented online Extend function lets the customer increase the size of IOVF and SDEP storage portions of a DEDB during reorganization,?without?taking the database offline.
