Rediscovering Your Power After a Setback.

Rediscovering Your Power After a Setback.

Remember back in the day when you were young and relied on grown-ups to tell you what to do? Yeah, great times.?

But here's the thing: while we were busy playing follow-the-leader, learning about pointless things such as stalagmites and stalactites. Nobody really bothered to tell us how we could be our own leader too.?

No one was like "Hey, maybe we should teach you about proper life stuff and how the power of taking responsibility following a setback can help you to make better life choices" It was definitely not in my school curriculum!

So, fast forward to adulthood, and maybe you feel a bit lost, wondering what the heck you're doing with your life. You blame everyone and everything for your lack of happiness or success. But guess what? It's time to stop looking outside of yourself and take control!

Taking responsibility doesn't mean that everything is your fault. There are plenty of injustices in the world that can already make things challenging for you without you giving yourself a hard time.

What it does mean though is putting on your big-kid pants and realising that regardless of what may be going on around you, you're still the one behind the wheel in this journey called life.?

Every decision you make, every action you take—it's in your hands, my friend.

But that doesn't have to be burden, it can actually be pretty exciting!

Because what people forgot to mention, is that it means you get the shape your life and work towards creating something that matters deeply to you.

So, here are a few not-so-serious steps to help you do that:

  1. Mirror Mirror: Take a good, long look in the mirror (not too long, though, I don't want to freak you out). Reflect on what truly lights your fire and makes you feel alive. It's time to discover what brings you joy and meaning!
  2. Own It: Put your hands up and say, "This is up to me!" Embrace the fact that you're the one in charge. Take ownership of your choices, even the not-so-great ones, because they're all part of your unique story.
  3. Growth Spurt: Shift your mindset from "I can't" to "How can I?" Embrace challenges like a dog rolling in fox shit. When life tries to knock you back, embrace it, heal from it and grow from it.?
  4. Set Goals: What matters to you, what interests you, what are you curious about? No matter what happens you still get to pursue these things. Break them down into bite-sized chunks and take small steps towards creating that life of yours.
  5. Pick Your Team: Surround yourself with people who believe in you and have your back. Seek out mentors, friends, or even an accountability buddy who can cheer you on and provide that extra boost when you need it.

Remember, taking responsibility isn't about pointing fingers or wallowing in past mistakes.?

It's about re-discovering your agency and realising that you have the power to create an epic life for yourself.?

So start putting into practice these steps.

And watch how things start to drastically improve for you.
