Rediscover Your Whole Self to Learn What Makes You Unique

I’m a career-long marketing strategist who helps professionals stand-out in a commoditized marketplace. I’ve learned a lot throughout my career about transitioning from working in-house at General Electric, to joining small to global agencies, and working as a consultant. After launching my agency in 2016, I worked with companies of all sizes, agencies and startups too.

Everything was moving along swiftly until late 2019, when I was faced with a traumatic health scare. It took several months to determine it was thankfully, a misdiagnosis. This crisis changed me. Then the pandemic hit. I discovered a new process and a different path forward.

How to Move Beyond Uncertainty

After speaking with many people who are scared because of job and income loss, have been furloughed, are unable to find a job, are worried about their families and desperate to find work, I created a new model, called, Decode Your Value to help people gain clarity about their vision for the future.

My mission is to help you understand that you’re more than the work you do, your position, age, culture, gender, the hard and/or soft skills you have and other self-limiting characterizations.

What are Your Life Skills?

Reflecting on the difference between who you think you are versus understanding your core values is a powerful catalyst for change. Every class, relationship, job and experiences that you’ve had (or have) are your life skills.

Take me, for example, while I’m an agency owner, a writer and a technology enthusiast. I’m also a mother, a Francophile, a Philly fan, a nature-lover, an avid reader, a fashion and music enthusiast and more.

Today, instead of leading with business-first, I bring my whole self; my life skills to the work I do, the people with whom I meet, and the virtual events in which I participate. My life skills are apparent during everyday conversations. It’s incredibly freeing to be yourself. Reflecting back on my life experiences, documenting my Life Skills and then carving out my core values (in the image below) was a way to move forward with more certainty, clarity and purpose.

I know it takes courage to take risks, to be open, authentic and feel comfortable enough with yourself to show your vulnerabilities. But, no one is perfect. As I’ve learned, when you show your authentic self, people will trust you. As a result, your relationships in business and in your personal lives will be more genuine and meaningful.

Will You Decode Your Value?

The process to Decode Your Value will help you look back, transition, grow and think about yourself in new ways, As Author Neale Donald Walsch said, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

I did it and so can you. What are your life skills, and have you carved out your values?
