Redefining the Word, Snack

Redefining what snacks mean is part of the uphill struggle of building a new snack category. Every day I see examples of where we’re going wrong with our definition of snacks and I can’t help myself but comment on them.
Just recently I read an article on the best snacks of all time, written in a trendy publication that I occasionally read.
Let’s just say most of the snacks in question were those resembling candy, and other carbohydrate heavy formations. Nothing of nutritional value was being promoted as snack-worthy, outside of when they made a joke about celery.
It got me thinking about the message we’re putting out there to kids and young adults. Our current idea of ‘snacking’ and ‘snacks’ is something high in fat, high in sugar, and full of useless carbohydrates that nobody should eat on a daily basis.
My job is to rewrite that message and change our idea of snacking and promote healthy snacks, because this other picture of high fat, high sugar, high carb snacks doesn’t help the obesity problem and every other problem that comes with unhealthy eating habits.
What we put into our bodies every day matters, so we need to do a better job and be more consistent in following a healthy lifestyle. Even though these ‘best snacks of all time’ taste great, they are pumped full of the worst ingredients you can possibly eat. They taste fantastic but in the long term, they can destroy your health, both mentally and physically.
At i won! organics we’re redefining the message on snacking. We’re setting better trends in the snack market in an effort to better ourselves and promote good health. It’s that #iwonfeeling.
