Redefining Wealth and Technology: The Shift from Google to Bitcoin
In the words of Steve Jobs, the late founder and CEO of Apple, the American technology giant, I don't care about being the richest man at the moment. It's important to me that you've done a great job when you go to bed. At the very beginning of the article, let us start this paragraph with a little integration of technology and historical topics. The problem is that in the third millennium, what new technologies were invented, and what impact each of them had on human society? To answer this question, we have to go back and examine the important events one by one. Of course, in order not to prolong the topic, we will limit ourselves to examining the most important of them.
2000?: AD, Google AdWords
The advertising industry is worth $600 billion, according to the latest data from the US Census Bureau. Undoubtedly, the history of this industry is divided into two parts before the invention of Google AdWords and after its invention. Google Ads, which used to be called Google AdWords and is also known by this name, is actually the advertising system of Google. Google Ads, which was added shortly after the launch of the Google search engine in 2000, is a pay-per-click (PPC) network through which you can advertise your site among the results of the Google search engine. And also display other Google partner sites. Simply put, in this system, Google allows you to advertise your site's goods or services for a fee calculated based on a specific algorithm.
2001: Apple iPod
It may not be far from reality if we call the year 2001 one of the golden years of technological progress in the history of mankind. Let's review the initial goal of this article once again: In this article, we want to examine the products that built the foundation of the modern world. Exactly this year, Windows XP and 10 OS X, or, today's macOS was also released, which we know today are both the basis of the operating systems of all systems today. Windows XP, which was released in October 2001, was considered one of the most popular computer operating systems in the world, and it is said that more than four hundred million copies of it were used from the beginning until 2008 until Microsoft announced that it would no longer be used by major computer manufacturers. Dell, HP, and Toshiba will not license this operating system on production computers, and since January 2008, Windows XP has not been released on computers. But with all these descriptions, it was the iPod that was able to move the world of technology to the mobile environment for the first time in the world. There were many MP3 players before the iPod, but it was the iPod that captured the attention of music lovers around the world.
2003: Android
Most people think that Google was the developer of Android, but the truth is that Android was originally founded as a company that intended to design an operating system for digital cameras. An idea that was not successful at all and dragged Android to the brink of complete bankruptcy. With the help of Google and with the decisive decisions of Google, Android was able to become the most popular mobile operating system in the world by leaving behind competitors such as Symbian, Blackberry, Palm, Web OS, and Windows Phone.
2004: Facebook
Definitely, all the readers of this article are familiar with Facebook or at least Instagram or have opened an account there. Today, in addition to Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg's newly founded start-up in 2004 is also the main owner of Instagram and WhatsApp. Meta (the new name of the company) is one of the giants in the field of communication and social networks today, whose value is reported to be more than 340 billion dollars.
2005: YouTube
Before 2005, publishing and sending videos was very expensive and practically impossible many times. The story of the formation of this company is very interesting and simple. When one of the founders of YouTube couldn't find the controversial video of Janet Jackson on the Internet, he thought of starting this video service. Since May 2019, more than 500 hours of video content are uploaded to this site every minute, and a billion hours of content are viewed on it every day. It has more than 2 billion users, which is almost equal to a third of the people who are on the Internet.
2006: Twitter
Perhaps no event has demonstrated the power of Twitter more than the unexpected arrival of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States of America. Donald Trump was able to use this platform to communicate directly with his fans and change the votes of many Americans in his favor at the last moment. It is interesting to know that, besides his lucrative job, Jack Dorsey worked on the idea of creating Twitter at night or on vacation, and before it became a pandemic, he considered Twitter a side idea.
2009: Bitcoin Genesis Block
Before any additional explanation about the title above, let's once again review the purpose of writing this article: In this article, we want to examine the products that built the foundation of the modern world. Many (and probably all) of the readers of this article were probably familiar with all previous inventions and have felt their impact on their lives. For example, browsing Instagram, shopping online , or watching videos on YouTube is an important part of our daily life. But the situation is completely different for the last case, Bitcoin Genesis Block, and according to statistics, less than 2% of people in the world are familiar with these words.
The questions that may be raised here are:
How can Bitcoin be one of the most important human inventions of the third millennium?
What effect can bitcoin have on society and the future of technology, or what is bitcoin at all?
If you are one of the people who had these questions after reading this article, then I recommend that you continue this discussion in the “Bitcoin, the emergence of technology to save the economy”.
