Redefining Success: The Transformative Difference Between Goals and True Vision

Redefining Success: The Transformative Difference Between Goals and True Vision

Every coach, trainer, and mentor talks to you about setting goals and making a plan. In fact, I'll bet you've been in a situation where someone asked you where you saw yourself in 5 years.

In today's issue of Discover Natural Productivity, we're gonna talk about the difference between setting goals and a five year plan and creating a Focused Vision, the way we set goals using the Productive Flow method I created.

The other day, I was on a call with a new client. I asked him about his goals and plans and he gave me a perfectly reasonable answer that made sense, given his skills, experience, and past trajectory. Every other coach out there, would have noted what he said and guided him towards reaching that very well-thought out plan.

Let me illustrate the Productive Flow difference here.

My response was to tell him that it all made perfect sense however, many people, when sitting down to make plans and set goals, use their logic and rationale to set them based on what they think they should do and can achieve based upon their past experiences and current mindset. He nodded in agreement.

I asked him to take all of that, put it in a box and set it aside for the moment. Then I asked him to close his eyes and think about a life without limits. A life where he could do anything, be anything, and have anything. A life without shoulds and have-tos. A life where you can become exactly who you want to be and spend your time doing what you want to do. I asked him to sit there with his eyes closed until he could visualize that ideal experience and then for him to describe to me what a day in the life of that looked and felt like.

He opened his eyes and described something completely different from his previous set plans and goals. A different life, a different location, a whole new experience. His body language changed as he described it, he sat more upright, his face lit up, and his eyes filled with tears as he spoke out loud his True Vision.

The thing is, there is no difference between the logical plan and the heart-centric one, except your personal choice of what to go after. The only difference is what you're willing to allow yourself to experience.

It's in that moment of visualizing your true vision and understanding how absolutely possible it is and feeling the absolute truth of how much it means to you, of how true it actually is for you, that you realize the other plan wasn't about you at all.

That other plan was about the limits you've had placed on you your entire life, of people telling you what you can and can't do, what's realistic, what's achievable for you. That's all it was. It really wasn't YOU and that's why it's been so hard for you to actualize, why it seems so elusive, and why you spend your life procrastinating and creating distraction all around you in order to avoid actually achieving that goal. It's because it wasn't what you really wanted and the fact is, you've probably never allowed yourself to really even think about your true vision. Most people who find themselves on the other end of a zoom call with me are discovering their true vision for the very first time.

Now, for all of you reading this and thinking, wait a minute, I have a vision board with all that stuff on it. Your true vision isn't about "stuff". It's about experiences, growth, and impact. It's about how you do life every single day.

When you latch onto your True Vision, it brings tears to your eyes. You feel a deep sense of gratitude and knowingness. You cannot unsee it no matter what you do, and once you have it, you have a ceaseless drive and focus upon achieving it. It's like you've finally discovered who you are and what you're meant to do in the world. It's the ultimate experience of what you want to be when you grow up.

So what do we do after you have your True Vision?

We look at your time. How much of your time is allocated to living that life now? For most, that experience allow all meaningless activities and offers to fall away, leaving tons of space for experiencing their best life NOW, not later, but right this minute. When you know who you are and what you want, there's no reason to keep working toward something that doesn't take you there.

Discovering your True Vision is life-altering in the best possible way.

After we curate your schedule so it aligns with your True Vision, we work on your energy and emotion. All things that prevent you from getting to your goal, show up, stand out, and are rewritten, redirected, and refocused. This is why Productive Flow isn't just about your work, isn't just about your life. It's about connecting with the truest part of who you are at your core, the part that's likely to be the deepest buried, bringing that sense of self to the surface and working through every single area of your life and business so ALL is in alignment with that TRUE YOU.

I absolutely LOVE the work I get to do. It's why I've spent the last 20 years doing it. There's one thing that's been missing though. While along the way I've worked with hundreds of people, both 1:1 and in small groups, I've not been able to make the level of impact I want and plan to make because I haven't ever created a group offering where I could create the level of transformation for an unlimited number of people at one time that my 1:1 and small group clients have been able to experience.

Best news ever...

I just figured out how to make that happen. Not only does this upcoming membership offer the same level of transformation my 1:1 clients experience, it offers even more, because it also combines the power of intimate small group experiences, mentorship, networking, and personal empowerment, all in addition to the training and coaching that leads my clients into living their True Vision successfully and sustainably using the Productive Flow method.

I don't have it all set up (although it's nearly there!) so there's nothing for you to register or sign up for just yet but I'm really excited about being able to offer this membership because, just like in creating Productive Flow, I've used that same method of understanding not just how to solve an immediate problem, but how to go beneath that problem, find the root of it, and heal it. With this new membership, it's called Prosperity Ascension by the way, I've created a way to do this at scale, allowing me to offer the members joining a much larger benefit than my 1:1 clients have ever received and pricing this offering at far below the cost of my 1:1 coaching.

Creating this membership is allowing me to maximize my impact while reducing my time expenditure so I can continue to create new avenues of impacting the world at large. I am beyond lit up about this as it's the culmination of me living my True Vision.

More to come in future issues and posts but if you'd like to be kept in the loop about Prosperity Ascension, be sure to let me know by typing "me" in the comments and I'll be sure to DM you when we're ready to officially launch it.

If you just can't wait to access your True Vision until then, I do offer a 4 Session Strategy Series that you can book now .

Until then, here's wishing you a life lived in the trueness of who you are, making your positive impact in the world, doing what you're here to do, that thing that lights you up like no other, without being limited by the expectations and assumptions of others.

I love what you are saying here Angela Kristen Taylor. I started my coaching career helping people set and achieve goals but I very much agree that without a vision, it is hard to work toward a goal. People understand goal setting but they view it in terms of accomplishing tasks, I'm afraid. Keep up your important work.
