Redefining Success

They lied. As we hit our 40’s or 50 we begin to feel like we have been gypped. We went to school, then University. Got a job. Turned that into a career. Found & and committed to a significant other. Maybe had kids. Bought the house. Worked hard. And long.

Why? Because that is what we were told is the best path to become a happy productive citizen.

Except for many business owners, entrepreneurs & executives it’s not. Instead, we feel like misfits – our lives are not as advertised and we don’t fit into the narrative we were told. The lives we lead feel more quiet desperation than joy.

Many business owners have a job they own. Many Entrepreneurs continually chase bright shiny objects. Many executives are trapped by their income and lifestyle. Few of these folk are happy. And they feel it. Life has lost its flavour. The days are a never-ending run on the hamster wheel.

Mid-life crisis are more and more the norm instead of the exception.

What to do??

Business Owners and Entrepreneurs need to reconnect with some larger sense of why. They need to inject some fun back into what they do. They should get some external assistance to find the missing pieces that are stopping their business from growing enough to deliver on their goals.

Executives need to decide to stay or go; if they stay they need to also add some fun back; actively look to find something that gives their work some meaning, and seek help to reignite their career progression.

We all need 2 things at the end of the day – a sense of accomplishment and a sense of enjoyment. With those in hand at the end of the day it was a good day. Done consistently the days become great.
