??Redefining Success Beyond Linear Ascension??

??Redefining Success Beyond Linear Ascension??

Today I want to share with you a conceptual exercise that I have applied in my professional career of over 25 years, to synthesize complexities that demand multiple planes and dimensions to solve, and I will conclude by using it to summarize and share the synthesis of my successful "non-linear" professional career... ?

I have "borrowed" this model by converging 2 major philosophical-scientific thoughts. ?The first - Plato's "Allegory of the Cave" - taking from it the shadows as the unique source of reality and existence - and the second from a classic episode of Carl Sagan's Cosmos series - adapted both within a synoptic picture of critical, strategic and managerial thinking #CriticalThinking. ?

In this episode of #Cosmos, Carl Sagan postulated that "we may not be able to conceive of the physical-spatial figure in the 4th dimension - but we can conceive of its shadow"... and demonstrated that the shadow of a figure existing in the 1st dimension - (say a Line) - by projecting its shadow was reflected by manifesting itself in the predecessor dimension (a Point, which in this case holds Zero dimension). Successively, a line in the 1st dimension was the shadow of a Plane (Bi-dimensional figure) - and so we arrive at the world we exist in as three-dimensional figures, where our shadow is reflected in a plane in the 2nd dimension. But Carl Sagan, by holding an acrylic cube up to the light - produced a translucent shadow that appeared to be in the 3rd dimension.

Exemplifying this technique, imagine a cube made of 3 acrylic planes, each one perpendicular to the other - and in this case for simplicity - each plane carries a characteristic virtue of a successful "non-linear" career path . ?

? Let's say in my case the Top Plane is "Digital Transformation" and I divide it into 2 - "Data & Analytics" and "Platform Enablement" - adoption of digital tools embedded in a process within value chain.

? Another Plane, let's put it in the left square - would be "Business Development" ("Scope") and here it would go from the uniqueness of managing a Commercial Account ("Account"), for example or its aggregation in "Vertical Segment" to extending the reach across geographies and emerging and even global markets.

? The last Plane that makes up our three-dimensional figure sealing the cube - let's dedicate this one to Organizational Leadership - acting as an Individual Contributor influencing within the organization or as a Leader of people with a managerial mandate to execute.

You will see in the schematic visualization, certain colored blocks of the "Rubix cube" - are episodes of my professional career, which includes key roles in:

? FOX/Disney (Organizational Leadership of team within Telco Latam Segment, developing Data & Analytics as a foundation to Digital transformation),

? Cisco Systems (multiple bidirectional facets between individual contributor to leader, interspersed with multiple scopes but mainly giving scale to Digital transformation).

As a constant - always juggling these three dimensions in an exploration of Digital Transformation, Business Technology Development and Organizational Leadership. However, what has really defined my journey is not a linear progression of responsibilities, but a complex and ever interdependent matrix of authority, function and results. Fluctuations between being a leader of people and an independent contributor have allowed me to scale both in depth and breadth the scope of transformational innovation, digital transitions and business technology development.

I understand success not as a direct-linear ascent, but as a series of rich and varied experiences that have allowed me to deliver value in unique and meaningful ways. This perspective has led me to foster continuous innovation and drive sustainable growth in an ever-changing business environment.
