Redefining Social Justice
After reading Michael Novak's lecture on Social Justice (https://www.heritage.org/research/lecture/social-justice-not-what-you-think-it-is), I sense that there is more to social justice than just helping the poor. It is not that helping the poor and the destitute is not important - it is imperative; but I can't help feeling that Social Justice is bigger than that.
The "7 Mountains of Cultural Influence" by Bill Bright and Loren Cunningham (https://www.7culturalmountains.org) may be some sort of guide as to the greater impact and effects of Social Justice. The domains of Arts & Entertainment, Business, Education, Family, Government, Media and Religion are all individually, cooperatively and collaboratively interwoven into the fabric of society and therefore Social Justice.
It could be argued that Social Justice my be the common golden thread that links all domains together. Social Justice is the heart beat of humanity in every facet of society and the greater community regardless of socio-economic and demographic categorisation. Does the poor man deserve more justice in a court of law, or more compassion because of his circumstances? Perhaps the rich man should be granted less justice because of his prosperity?
Although, I agree that there will never be a truly egalitarian society (there will always some who are better off, or who have greater status than others) I suggest that it is ALL of our responsibility to seek to make a positive Social Justice impact in every aspect of society and the community regardless of who or what they are.
