Redefining Performance, Health, and Opportunity

Redefining Performance, Health, and Opportunity

Hello, I’m Antone G. Wilson—most of you know me as “Coach Wilson.” Over the past decade, I’ve cultivated a multifaceted career across athletics, education, organizational leadership, and technology. From college football sidelines to wellness centers, from classrooms to military training grounds, my journey has always been about one thing: understanding human potential and developing systems to optimize it.

But in recent years, my focus has shifted from individuals and teams to something broader: building frameworks that address the systemic challenges we face as a society. Whether it’s the disconnect between education and workforce demands, the exploitation of athletes, or the erosion of quality jobs in a tech-dominated world, my mission is clear—to bridge the gaps that hinder progress, productivity, and potential.

From Athletics to Systems Thinking: The Foundation of My Work

My journey began with a love for coaching and strength and conditioning. I witnessed firsthand how human performance is shaped not just by physical training but by a constellation of factors—mental resilience, injury history, recovery, and data-driven insights. Working with athletes and soldiers taught me a critical lesson: excellence isn’t just about effort; it’s about strategy.

As I honed my craft, I started to see patterns—trends in performance, gaps in readiness, and missed opportunities to connect data with actionable insights. This realization pushed me beyond the field. I began to study how systems—not just individuals—function and how metrics could tell a story to drive better decision-making.

This mindset led to the development of Functional Operating Capacity (FOC)—a model and information system designed to measure readiness, mitigate risk, and optimize performance across industries, sports, and military domains.

The Problem: Disconnected Systems and Missed Opportunities

Through my work, I’ve encountered systemic challenges that extend far beyond the realm of athletics:

  • The Exploitation of Athletes: College athletes are often treated as commodities, with their health and education sacrificed for short-term gains. Even with advancements like NIL rights, systemic inequities remain.
  • A Broken Education-to-Workforce Pipeline: Students are graduating with degrees that don’t align with job market demands. Automation and economic shifts have created a vacuum of opportunities, leaving many underemployed or unemployable.
  • Health and Productivity at Risk: Across industries, workers face physical and cognitive demands without the support systems needed to sustain their health, longevity, and productivity. This isn’t just a workforce issue; it’s a public health crisis.

These issues are interconnected. Whether it’s a teacher, a nurse, an athlete, or a soldier, the fundamental question remains the same: How do we measure and optimize human potential in a way that is sustainable, fair, and effective?

Functional Operating Capacity: A Framework for the Future

Functional Operating Capacity is my response to these challenges. It’s more than just a model or software—it’s a system that analyzes, contextualizes, and acts on the metrics that matter most to individuals and organizations. By combining my background in human performance with data analytics and system design, FOC offers a way to connect the dots.

Here’s how it works:

  • Metrics That Matter: FOC gathers key data points—body composition, biometrics, sleep, stress, injury history, workload, and activity levels. It doesn’t just collect data; it tells a story.
  • Actionable Insights: Using dashboards and analytics, FOC translates complex data into clear, actionable recommendations. Whether you’re a coach, a manager, or an individual, the system helps you make informed decisions.
  • Tailored Solutions: The system contextualizes insights based on industry, age, gender, and job demands, providing personalized roadmaps to optimize health and performance.
  • Scalable Integration: Designed to work across platforms, from wearables to custom dashboards, FOC is modular, adaptable, and open-source—making it accessible to a wide range of users.

Why This Matters: Redefining Productivity and Readiness

In sports, we measure performance with metrics like touchdowns, batting averages, and usage ratings. But what about the rest of us? How do we measure success for teachers, doctors, or factory workers? How do we account for the physical and cognitive demands of their work? FOC provides a framework to answer these questions.

Here’s what makes it unique:

  • A Holistic Perspective: FOC integrates physical, cognitive, and environmental factors to provide a complete picture of readiness.
  • Risk Mitigation: By identifying injuries, health conditions, or imbalances, the system helps individuals and organizations reduce risks and improve outcomes.
  • Scalable Solutions: Whether it’s corporate wellness programs, athletic training, or public health initiatives, FOC adapts to the needs of diverse users.
  • Empowerment Through Data: The system gives users ownership of their data while leveraging AI to provide deeper insights and predictive analytics.

This approach isn’t about replacing existing tools—it’s about enhancing them. FOC serves as the backbone of a broader ecosystem, empowering individuals and organizations to take control of their health and performance.

The Vision: Building a Legacy of Impact

For me, FOC isn’t just a project; it’s a philosophy. It’s the culmination of years of experience in coaching, human performance, and systems thinking. It’s a way to combine my passion for helping people with my skills in analytics, customization, and decision-making.

As I refine this system, I’m building something deeply personal—a tool that supports my practice today while laying the foundation for a business that can scale. I’m not rushing to commercialize; I’m focused on getting it right. This journey is about creating a system that works for me and those I serve, ensuring it’s ready to replicate and empower others.

A Call to Action: Let’s Redefine Success

Whether you’re an athlete, a coach, or a leader in any field, success is about more than effort—it’s about clarity, strategy, and sustainability. Functional Operating Capacity bridges the gap between raw data and actionable insight, helping individuals and teams not just meet standards but redefine them.

I’m excited to share this journey with you. This isn’t just about technology or health—it’s about building systems that improve lives, empower organizations, and create lasting change.
