Workers also spent about 25% less of their time collaborating with colleagues across groups compared to pre-pandemic levels. Adding New Collaborators: Remote work also caused workers to add new collaborators more slowly. Job Satisfaction and Stress: On the positive side, a 2015 research review found that telecommuting increased job satisfaction, performance, and feelings of commitment to an organization among employees. People who teleworked also tended to experience less work stress or exhaustion. So, while remote work can lead to more isolated work patterns, it doesn’t necessarily lead to social awkwardness or inability to speak in a crowd.
