More than 200 jet-powered #aircraft make up the diverse fleet of #Chinese airline #Hainan Airlines. Its aircraft are based in the city of #Haikou, and one of the most recognisable liveries is applied to them. Let's examine the fleet's precise composition.
Hainan Airlines, one of #China's largest carriers, currently has 224 aircraft in its fleet, according to data from ch-aviation.com. These all have a single aisle, with more than half of them being narrowbody jetliners made by the American company Boeing.
The Boeing 737-800 is unquestionably the model with the most units in the current Hainan Airlines fleet. The carrier is equipped with 137 of these well-liked twinjets, 110 of which were operational at the time of writing. They are 8.8 years old on average. Each has eight first class recliners and 158 ordinary economy seats, according to SeatGuru.
11 Boeing 737 MAX 8s are also among the next-generation narrowbodies in Hainan Airlines' fleet. Due to China's failure to recertify the type for usage in its airspace, all of these are currently dormant. On average, they are 3.4 years old, and Hainan Airlines received the first one in November 2017. December 2018 saw the arrival of the latest recent.
Hainan Airlines operates widebody aircraft that are built by both members of the dominant Airbus-Boeing manufacturing duopoly. The airline begins its relationship with Airbus by operating aircraft from the A330 and A350 generations of the European manufacturer.

Hainan Airlines now has nine A330-200s in its fleet, just two of which are operational. When it comes to the activity of its larger A330-300s, there is an even split. In fact, exactly half, or 12, of the 24 that are currently at its disposal, are in use.
There are five Airbus A350-900 models in the current fleet of Hainan Airlines, which are more recent Airbus widebodies. All five of these next-generation twinjets, which have an average age of just 3.7 years, were dormant at the time of writing. Another example is still on the way. In 2019, the airline also ran a second pair on a temporary basis.
Hainan Airlines also uses two of the cutting-edge 787 models from Boeing. The mid-sized 787-9, of which there are 28 examples in the carrier's current fleet, is the most prevalent of these. The average age of these twinjets is 4.7 years. They have 30 flatbeds in business class and 258 normal economy seats, according to SeatGuru.
There are just 10 short-fuselage 787-8s at Hainan Airlines, making them less prevalent. At the time of writing, just one was functioning. At 8.6 years old on average, they are slightly under twice as old as their 787-9 contemporaries. With 36 flatbeds and a 177-seat economy section, they are smaller but feature more business class seats.
