Recently we took the red pill.

We have a lovely apartment overlooking the coast and for the last 3 years we’ve been renting it out as a holiday apartment with the bonus that we can use it several times a year.

As a surfer, it’s amazing to walk out of our own apartment for a dawn surf. As parents, it’s a lovely feeling walking our two young boys down to the beach to play.

But because there was so little business during the winter, we were not making any money. So, it has to go.

Emotionally it’s painful, we love the apartment. But it was bought as an investment and our hard-earned cash could be put to better use.

We had to make a tough call.

We had to step away from a nice, cosy situation - indecision - and make a tough choice. A choice we could only make because we’re using financial data, not emotion, to make the decision.
