The Red Devils wreck havoc at St Mary’s

Club football returned on Saturday as Manchester United headed to St. Mary's, eager to rebound from their crushing loss to bitter rivals Liverpool just before the international break.

The match began with the Red Devils showing less desire to make a meal from this fixture. Their opponents looked angry to score the game’s first goal. The Saints were awarded a penalty in the first half after Diogo Dalot carelessly let his team down and brought down Southampton's Dibling in his 18-yard box.

After the penalty miss in the first half, everything went wrong for the Saints as they conceded the first goal of the game right after a few minutes from that important penalty save from Andre Onana. A precise header from one of United’s summer signings, Matthijs?de Ligt opened the floodgates to set the tone for a comfortable victory for the Red Devils.

Things went from bad to worse as they conceded another goal just six minutes later, this time from the much-maligned Marcus Rashford, whose form has dipped over the past year. United’s second goal saw the end of the barren spell in front of goal for Rashford. He netted his first goal in 189 days for his club.

The second half saw United control the game effectively and sealed the win when substitute Alejandro Garnacho scored a third goal for the Red Devils late in the second half. With three points in the back and a comfortable performance away from home, Harry Potter (Erik Ten Hag) will wave his magic wand on his team to keep confidence high in the camp as they begin their adventure in the Europa League later next week.

The Ajax old boys turned up at St Mary’s, can they inspire this new-look United side to win trophies this season?
