Red Cross #Dorian relief efforts, giving hope ...

We hope our newest #ThankfulThursday finds you well.

Today we thank and recognize you our beloved South Florida friends and colleagues for your incredible generosity -- donations and outpouring of support for all those affected by Hurricane Dorian. 

We especially thank our colleagues who are volunteering in the disaster aid efforts with the American Red Cross.

Still, many of our neighbors to the North are facing heavy rain and strong winds, tornadoes, and widespread power losses and flooding.

We keep them in our prayers and stand ready to come to their aid.

The Red Cross brings hope to Bahamas, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina -- Red Cross volunteers are ready to help those affected.

The Red Cross has already:

• Pre-positioned relief supplies—such as tarps, hygiene items, jerrycans, and cell phone chargers for those affected in the Bahamas.
• More than 12,200 people stayed in 171 Red Cross and community evacuation shelters in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina on Monday night.
• In advance of Dorian, some 110 emergency response vehicles and 104 tractor-trailer loads full of relief supplies have been deployed
• 63,000 ready-to-eat meals have been distributed in advance of the storm.

We who re-built our homes, community and our lives after Hurricance Andrew know too well -- the road to full recovery is long and ardous. 

We also know that the generous support of others -- often anonymous and from strangers -- gave us hope in the face of such destruction and personal loss.
