Red All About It!

MD Words: October was another busy month for the team here at Red - Specialist Marine Recruitment . I really enjoyed the UK Chamber of Shipping ’s inaugural “Shipping UK” event in London which was a fantastic opportunity to meet and reconnect with many of the key players in the Maritime industry. There was a wealth of discussion around Decarbonisation of the shipping industry and the move towards Net Zero, alongside conversations covering the global supply chain and, importantly for us, a very interesting panel session on “Human Resources at Sea and Ashore”. Thanks again to the UK Chamber of Shipping and all the guest speakers for a great event! Alongside this we supported World Mental Health day, with a specific focus on raising awareness of mental health in the workplace, something we can all prioritise and ensure we are reaching out to those that are struggling. And of course, we saw the UK Autumn Budget announcement last week so will be keeping an eye on developments over the coming weeks and months. I hope you enjoy this month’s edition!

UK Chamber of Shipping: Matt had a great time back in London for the inaugural UK Chamber of Shipping event in the shadow of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament! Thanks to all of the hosts and panel members for such an inspiring and thought-provoking day! There’s a lot to do in the shipping industry to achieve the #netzero targets but we are confident that everyone in the room is keen to collaborate and find the right solution. Great to see so many familiar faces and make new lasting connections!

"From employers to employees, executives to managers, we must unite in educating ourselves and one another to recognise the signs of poor mental health and provide mutual support so that we can create healthier, more resilient workplaces where mental wellbeing is a priority for all. "This is such an important topic, not just today, but all year round.
