Recycling Primer

When everything comes together in a public school + community ecology collaboration it's a win/win/win for students/community/earth! Following a semester inspired by Antonio Lopez's Ecomedia Literacy I added this discipline to my high school course.

"Just add the environment" has become my mantra through intentional films, learning to interview, screenplays, narrative productions, and now --miraculous pop-up-- PSAs for the county solid waste department!

Through this process --which has taken several months--it is my understanding that the students have actually undergone a transformation in ecomedia literacy in their own lives. They are able to deconstruct traditional media around the environment and they are learning to recognize many critical issues presented along with how the environment is treated by our news and information culture.
