The Recruitment Scam

At this point, you may have noticed a recurring theme in our social media posts, alerting people of the ongoing recruitment scam.

But what exactly is this scam, and how do you deal with it?

“Hallo, I’m Viki,a recruiter from Brite Recruitment. We look for remote worker. Can I share more details?”

“I’m Cherry from the Brite Recruitment, I get your number from the company’s database. Currently our company has a variety of?vacancies to choose from and some flexible role.may i share you more details?”

“Hello, I’m *Sarah From Brite recruitment London UK. We are recruiting candidate for some vacancies. May i share it with you?”

Brite Recruitment’s name and logo, like many other recruitment agencies, are being unlawfully used as a part of a scam. The recruitment scam started as messages on WhatsApp, with broken English texts, offering too good to be true roles. These were rather easy to spot and many just automatically dismissed them.

However, the scam has become more and more elaborate, as they have progressed to unlawfully using our name and logo, using similar email addresses, and even using our website for credibility.

This is incredibly enraging and upsetting, as we receive messages from angry individuals that have been contacted by these scammers. We appreciate all the people that have informed us of these messages, and we are disheartened to know that the miss use of our name and brand is now affecting our reputation – one we have worked hard to create and maintain by delivering exceptional service to candidates and clients alike.

How can you spot a Recruitment Scam?

There are a few ways to identify a scam:

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

• These fake roles are used to entice you – so they are going to by remote/hybrid, with great benefits and great money. But often this is an instant red flag.

POOR ENGLISH

• Our messages are proofed before sending, and we pride ourselves on our communication skills. If a message has poor spelling, grammar or seems disjointed, then it’s not us.

MONEY

• We will never ask for a fee from our candidates, and will never ask for your bank details.

NAME

• We don’t employ anyone called Cherry, Vicky, Jennifer, or Sarah. Our employees can be found under the ‘About’ tab on our website which includes their direct email address and mobile number, and so if these details don’t align then it’s not us.

ATTATCHMENTS

• If you are asked to follow a link, then this is a scam. They may be using a real job post to lure you in and pay the fee.

NO INTERVIEW

• You may be offered a role instantly, without an interview – which wouldn’t happen with our positions.

What should you do?

If you are contacted by these scammers, then we advise that you do not interact with them any further, and report the number as a scam or email address as a scam. Alternatively, you can also block them.

This is an ongoing problem and it is constantly progressing and adapting every day. There has been NO data breach, as your information has not come from us.
