History of Recruitment?
The word “Recruitment” is a really necessary process of the company. It plays a vital role in an organization seeking for identifying and attracting the new resource to fill the vacant vacancy. Growth or the success of the company is more likely inclined towards its ability to hire individuals having required skill set, knowledge, and cultural fit which impacts the organization’s goal and objectives in a positive way.?
The recruitment process is the point of contact between the organization and the potential candidates as it plays a crucial role in shaping the perception of the company and its employee brand. Throughout these years, the recruitment process has gone through the different transformational phases. Looking back to the traditional method of recruiting; employers used to rely on newspaper advertisement, campus visits to attract potential candidates to fulfill their vacancy. During that time, advertisements were physically posted in the boards, and vacancy announcements were done via distribution of printed brochures which contained information regarding companies and vacancies. Face to face recruitment was highly practiced and the face to face recruiting interview was the norm. However, the traditional recruitment process slowly started to transform dramatically in the 1990s.?
In the 1990s, when the growth of the email was in its early phase then during that phase the recruitment practice also evolved. Recruiters gained an advantage of reaching out to numerous potential applicants directly in a smooth and faster way. As the access to the email address list makes the task easier for the recruiter to reach a large number of talent pool of candidates with ease. Likewise, slowly and gradually; recruiters started to transform their traditional way of recruiting to adapting online approaches, techniques, moving to online methods from physical methods. Recruiters embraced the digital platform leaving back to the traditional way. This change in the recruitment sector brought a significant change in how employers communicate with the potential candidates or the applicants. The transformation of recruitment process from physical to digital platform method helped in smooth recruitment process and made convenience for the recruiters and applicants both. The ease of electronic communication opened up new possibilities for reaching a broader range of candidates in a shorter span of time. By leveraging online platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook ads, Instagram, website, etc; recruiters could explore innovative strategies to attract and engage talent.
