Every Recruiter wants to be successful in filling up the positions on time with quality profiles

Recruitment is one of the crucial functionalities of Human Resources Management, which impacts the organization’s productivity and growth directly and indirectly also. A Recruiter can be called successful when the open positions are filled on time with right candidates.?

Often recruitment is termed as a process.?

If we try to understand, a process is a set of smaller tasks / phases which needs to be completed in the proposed systematic and sequential manner. To achieve the objective of that process, it needs to be followed in the same pattern. By looking into the above statement, we can see?

  1. Recruitment is a process, as it flows in a sequential manner.
  2. It has certain phases which follow one after the other to complete the process.
  3. And it contains different phases beginning with sourcing and ends with the candidate’s joining the position

If recruiter follows the suggested phases without failure, there will be wider chances of success. That’s why Recruitment is termed as a process.

At the same time, recruitment is also termed as a skill.?

A skill is an ability & capability of a person to perform a particular act / art. A skill can be mastered by practicing more and more. Mastering the skill includes lot of thought process, new ideas and creativity to be practiced by the performer. This process makes him / her become an expert in handling the complex situations with an ease. And this helps them become better in their skill every day.?

When we see recruitment as a skill, we need to agree upon the statement because,?

  1. Recruitment is an ability to find the best candidates among the huge suitable profiles pool and placing them in the role. A recruiter without this ability can’t be successful. He/she should have the ability or they should learn and practice to master the skill of selecting the right candidate.
  2. As recruitment involves many systematic process steps / phases where, recruiter has to reach the suitable candidates, interact with them, providing them with right information, and convincing them for applying to the open position.?
  3. During the process of recruitment,

  • A recruiter has to think creatively and come up with new ideas to find and attract the right talent,
  • Recruiter needs to use his / her effective communication skills to do the talent branding, and while convincing the job seeker for the position
  • And a recruiter needs to create a positive impression on the jobseeker’s mind by understanding the body language and psychology of the candidate using his interpersonal skills?

4. As recruitment involves different minute yet crucial tasks of accumulating the sourced profiles, systematic maintenance of profile pool, approaching the candidates with right information, understanding the need of the job role and selecting the candidate according to the suitability parameters, communicating effectively until the position gets filled with a quality profile without hiring mistakes, it involves lot of complexity and recruiter needs to deal with all the complexities with ease.?

5.?????Recruiter needs to acquire the needful technological knowledge while handling the process through automated software tools & also while searching for suitable profiles from different web-based platforms.

6.?????As the recruiter repeats the same process practicing his / her recruitment skills more and more for each position, makes him / her become better every time and become the master of the skill. That’s how Recruitment can also be termed as a skill.

Striking balance between Process & Skill…

Recruiters who don’t understand the skill and only take up the process as it is, can’t get the success for long time and recruiters who practice the skill more and more, if they don’t follow the prescribed process steps as per the order also won’t get the success.??

?As per the Talent Acquisition experts, we can’t categorize recruitment into either skill or process separately. Recruitment is a mix of process and skill both. A recruiter / Talent Acquisition Practitioner who wishes to achieve success in filling the positions should practice recruitment in both ways, as a practice and skill taking right balance of it.
