Recruitment Moneyball
When the Oakland A's flew against the wind and flipped baseball recruitment model upside down, do you think they had the UK recruitment industry in mind? I suppose not. Their philosophy (fundamentally) was to hire people based on core stats/skills usually over looked by other teams.
Whilst the New York Yankees continued to hire the gold standard big names, the A's stripped back the stats, hired SMEs and proved that the whole really is greater than the sum of its parts.
In the modern recruitment world, the A's philosophy could not be more relevant. Although they have their uses, the "360 recruiter" (gold standard) can be inefficient in comparison to a well oiled unit. It's simple you hire 1) People who can win the business, 2) People who can manage business relationships and 3) People who can deliver the best candidates.
Why laden the full shebang on the shoulders of one individual, when 3 SMEs can do a more efficient/profitable job? Sanderson wholly embrace the Moneyball ethos. Who knew baseball and the wonderful world of recruitment were so well aligned
