Recruiting Maggie's Way. There is still hope for the industry.

I absolutely love headhunting! It's a natural talent of mine. I enjoy visiting different venues and observing potential candidates in action while experiencing the hospitality service myself. Every day, I set a plan for who I'm looking for and where I can find them.

One of the great things about headhunting is that I don't have to go alone. I can take someone with me, well, almost anyone. Today, I decided to go with my family. We went to a lovely Spanish restaurant that was packed, which was perfect for me to spot top talent.

However, I was in for a surprise. We spent over three hours there, but I couldn't find anyone who stood out. Every member of the staff was amazing, working together with a fantastic attitude, handling difficult customers and supporting each other. It was a joy to watch.

I couldn't resist and had to speak with the person in charge, who happened to be the owner. He was around 35 years old and incredibly hospitable. I told him about my job, and to my surprise, he was okay with it. He smiled and said, "Maggie, I think my people are happy here. If they're not, they know they can always come and talk to me, so we can work together to make things better."

I asked him what his secret was, and he replied, "I appreciate them, I support them, I train them, and I always listen." I didn't need to hear more. I believed him. I saw how great his team was, and they genuinely enjoyed working there.

I congratulated him and wished that we had more leaders like him in this wonderful industry. You might think I wasted time and money going there, but it's not my intention to take great talent from places where they are happy. It doesn't make sense to me. I'm only interested in helping people who are fantastic but not valued enough by their current employers.

I have a message for employers who haven't had the chance yet to show their people how much they care, now is the time to do that:-), you will not regret it.
