Are you looking to hire Insurance Pricing and Data Science professionals?
This can be a challenging area to hire, with a shortage of experienced candidates who are in high demand. If you are looking to partner with a specialist recruitment agency for these type of hires, you might be interested in a few of these (brief) case studies, projects I’ve been proud to have helped with over the last few years;
- Major media group launching an IoT insurance product: selected by the Head of Pricing to source a brand-new data science focused pricing team, to build out the pre and post-launch models and pricing capabilities. Challenges: under an NDA so no advertisements, and whilst a household brand, no previous presence in the insurance market. Successfully placed the Pricing Manager, Senior Pricing Data Scientist (and have to credit an ex-colleague for the Senior UW/Portfolio Analyst!). Delivered a CV to Interview ratio of 1.4:1 and Interview to Offer ratio of 3:1, successfully filling all three positions.
- Successfully placed the Head of Data Science to build and lead a new department with a major Personal Lines insurer, and helped subsequently build out the team. Challenges: asked to help out following an unsuccessful retained search conducted by another agency. Delivered: mapped the market and submitted the three best candidates with the most relevant experience in the market who were interested at that time. All three invited to first interview, two to second interviews, and one successful placement. On returning to work post-pandemic (a little late to the party!), successfully placed several high-calibre Data Scientist into the new team. All very happy and loving the interesting work they are exposed to!
- Since setting up my new company I feel very privileged to have been accepted onto the preferred supplier list/ PSL of a major insurer I knew to have an excellent company culture, and to be doing some innovative stuff with their pricing. So far numerous placements at Manager to Analyst level, for pricing across a range of business areas, product lines and pricing disciplines. CV to Interview ratio to date is 1.6:1 and Interview to Offer is 3.2:1. Even better, I checked-in with a Pricing Manager I placed there recently and they said it is “one of the best places he’s worked in his whole career” and that they would “highly recommend it as a really nice place to work” :)
If you are looking for a recruitment partner focused on quality of delivery, please look no further. The reason for these ratios is a good understanding of the company, roles (and typically/ preferably the hiring managers) and taking the time to genuinely understand these and create a marketable Employer Value Proposition (EVP), whilst being conscientious in matching the requirements and the unique benefits of any opportunity with candidates’ own experience, aspirations and preferences.
We’re happy to work on a PSL basis with companies where there is a higher volume of hires. But if you are hiring for a unique or Senior position, or building out a new team, and you want to get your recruitment right first time and at pace, we offer (great value) retained or exclusive search options. Please get in touch for a no obligations, informal chat around any hiring requirements!
