A Recruiting Festival called #TASCON19

A Recruiting Festival called #TASCON19

Prelude - I had already attended TASCON in 2017, Was keenly awaiting the next time i could go. Since I follow most of the org committee on twitter, I was following all the action that was happening towards TASCON19. The Sourcing Adda Team has done a very good job in reaching out to majority of the audience, Most of my friends within my org and outside knew about this event. The branding was very well done.

This Blog will talk about some experiences and A view on What was good and what could improve.

Greeting & Registration - Was too good as the waiting time was almost NIL, I mentioned my name and the card was ready , so was the Goodie bag. Contents of the bag included an autographed book by Ronnie Screwvala - "Dreaming with your Eyes Open", which is an awesome read , An awesome diary and a Pen.

The Day started with a Bang literally with the Bossman of Upgrad - Ronnie Screwvala talking about his experiences and how he met with failures. One word which stood out - " Non-Linear" . He implied experimenting and taking risks is part of the wining journey. The session was personal and less of a boring lecture. His humility and confidence is worth a mention. Lucky enough to take a picture with him to flaunt on Social Media.. Got innumerable likes on Facebook & favs on Twitter :-)

The next noteworthy session was by own Social Recruiting Evangelist Aadil Bandukwala, Which was all about going out of the box than just thinking about stuff. He brought out examples like Swiggy getting a poke from Dunzo when they started a similar service( as in the pic). Went on to talk about being creative everywhere to appeal to your current day Customer

Some more Sessions that were interesting included the one from Aalok Purohit which covered topics of AI in Recruiting and how the market is shifting towards this trend. When asked about whether he'd choose a Smart Robot Recruiter or a Human - His answer was " It depends on the job requirement, If the role requires a certain tasks/skills then the resource that comes with the relevant skill would be hired

The session on Candidate Experience which had some good folks on the dais Namely - Taruna Reddy| Publicis Sapient ; Ravijot Chugh | upGrad ; Gautam Shetty | Maersk Global ; Anuradha Vellal | Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages ; Padma Bhamidipati | Infosys

This session threw light on the areas of candidate experience and how this journey starts way before the interview begins and how it does not end after the candidate joins was interesting. Calibration with the interview panel , use of manual and AI based tools was an interesting insight on candidate management.

Other sessions which were interesting were

The New Wave of Talent Engagement and Attraction

Mohit Sharma (Soc Gen) & Subhendu Panigrahi (Skillenza) on new ways of Attracting talent and engaging with them, Creative Pitches , strategies etc were the highlight

Just check out the image on how your cell number can be given out in the form of an equation. Very interesting way to evoke interest on your candidate pitches.

The session on Candidate experience & Selection by Savita Hortikar was insightful with a lot of new initiatives that they are working on. their candidate mentoring initiative is one of its kind in the industry.

The sourcing sessions I heard from my other team members was also very interesting with a lot of new tricks that will be very helpful for the sourcer community.

The session with Chris Murdock on Being Human in the current times of AI was interesting as we had a chance to shake hands with the most experienced Recruiter in the event with 24+ years of experience.

The event saw me getting a prize for being active on twitter and getting too many favorites on twitter. Indeed very happy that i got this honor.

What could improve - instead of Having sourcing and Strategy separately, It would help if the Events are tailored and presented in one stage instead of 2.

None the less, The Sourcing adda team has done a great job in putting this together. I will certainly be an ambassador to this event and attend this every-time.

It is always nice to go and meet friends over some great conversations.

P.S - The food was also awesome !
