Recruiting: Building Great Things!

I often wonder how I ended up in the architecture and construction industry from my ten-year stint in technology recruiting. In passing a building that The Beck Group built, downtown Dallas, I was brought to the realization that everything happens for a reason and the process of design and construction has been such a parallel to my career as a recruiter.

When I log into LinkedIn, I see so many positive career changes in my network from former candidates and people I've worked with. I smile because in some way I know I played a small part in that pathway to success. One of the things architects and builders say is the most rewarding part of their job, is seeing something that they've helped build be completed and a thriving part of the city landscape.

Much like architecture and construction, recruiting is also designing and building great things: People. We craft the conversations and build the bridges to a next step in someone's career. Sometimes in the challenges that come with recruiting you may lose sight of the long-term end results. So here's a reminder to all my recruiting colleagues, you are significant, important, and responsible for identifying great talent and being an active participant in building great things!
