Recruiters; Friends or Foes?
In the ever-evolving landscape of the Commercial Maritime sector, the importance of finding the right talent
Understanding the Concerns:
Before delving into the benefits, it's crucial to acknowledge the reservations some may have about using a Recruitment Consultant. Skepticism often stems from concerns about added costs, a perceived lack of industry knowledge, or a fear of losing control over the hiring process.
Clients may be hesitant to allocate additional resources for hiring when they believe they can manage the process internally. Additionally, there could be a fear that a recruiter may not fully grasp the intricacies of a particular company culture.
There is also the elephant in the room to acknowledge; not hearing back from recruiters, non-constructive / no feedback after interviews, and sometimes, fake recruiter profiles on LinkedIn that are data-stripping. All of which give us a bad rap and build mistrust.
These concerns are valid, and acknowledging them is the first step toward building a transparent and trust-based relationship
In my opinion, the best thing to do is to simply take a call. This way, you can decide for yourself if a recruiter has done their homework on the role they're recruiting for, while also seeing if the opportunity they have matches your career ambitions. The same goes for clients; have the conversation, and see if the recruiter would be able to sufficiently source for your requirements.
Building Connections and Insight:
One of the key advantages of engaging with a Recruitment Consultant is the ability to form meaningful connections
Establishing a long-term connection with a candidate is always extremely beneficial, I think. Understanding their personal life and goals helps me to find an opportunity that caters to their lifestyle, rather than just matching a job description to a CV.
