The Recruiter's Christmas Bucket List 2017
As another year in recruitment draws to a close, I thought we’d have some festive fun and celebrate our achievements of 2017 with a Recruiter's Bucket List competition.
The rules are simple - whoever has completed the most of the following activities this year wins. The prize is pride or shame, depending what way you look at it.
Tally up your score and stick it in the comments. How many have you done?
- Made an offer to the wrong candidate
- Surpassed into legend and had 2 of your candidates unexpectedly hired for a single role
- Received an inappropriate voicemail/whatsapp/direct message from a candidate
- Said something on the phone when you thought you were on mute
- Sent candidates to the wrong place for interview
- Accidentally sent your client/candidate/MD kisses in an email
- Been forced to dress up and visit clients as part of a poorly themed sales day
- Completed a call in an entirely fake accent
- Been repeatedly referred to as something other than your actual name
- Got so lost on the way to a client meeting that you didn't go
- Broken into the office after hours to do anything other than more work
- Been reduced to tears in the office
- Played any kind of sport in the office
- Told your boss you were off to a “client meeting” and ended up somewhere more enjoyable
- Been hung up on, and brazenly called them back with ‘I think the line was disconnected. As I was saying…’
- Made a joke that your client didn’t understand/took the wrong way/forced you to repeat
- Suddenly and inexplicably lost the ability to get your words out while on the phone, much to the amusement of surrounding colleagues
- Been made to laugh by a colleague while on a call to the point you had to place the client/candidate on hold
- Forgotten you’ve put someone on hold and left them hanging for a good 20 minutes
- Sent an InMail to a client and called them by the wrong name
- Forgotten to finish up a temp
- Survived an audit
- Done anything other than have serious, work-related meetings in the boardroom
- Dated a colleague
- Dated a client (kidding, that’s unethical)
Pop your scores/stories/evidence below. Anything else that should be on every recruiter's bucket list? Let me know and we'll factor it in for next year.
Oh, and I wrote this book if anyone needs a stocking filler for the recruiters/salespeople in your lives.
Merry Christmas. Here’s to next year troops.

7 年I thought I would be a serious offender but actually... 4 things out of this list I've done and they’re all really tame! Maybe I should step my game up with some of these! Nicely done

7 年Not all are me but know of people who have done . . . 26. Send a Candidate CV to their current company/manager . . . and got them an interview with their boss for the role they gave notice for . . . yip that's right. and no they did not attend. 27. Attend a client meeting, entering into wrong room and meeting only to notice mid way when nothing made sense. Blagging through the rest of it. 28. Booked client meeting in another city/country to go on holiday
