The Recruiter

The unheard & untold story.

Once upon a time, yes this was the time where the whole human species just vanished(maybe due to the pandemic). The animals lived in harmony and peace until one day they had a very serious problem.

None of the animals had any food to prey on. Then the head of the jungle called in for an emergency meeting asking every animal to bring in the food that's remaining with them so that they can all share and sustain for a few more days.

The head of the jungle was understanding every animals problem, then the birds came in. They said we are having toughest time of all the animal's in the forest. Many of our species have become extinct because of which there are no hunters amongst us.

The head of the jungle thinks hard on this and asks the bird community to meet him the next day. The new morning came with a new hope to the bird community. They rushed to the meeting. The head of the jungle decided to bring in his most talented and aggressively hardworking “the recruiters”. He explains, the recruiters have been the best ones to get right talent from across the globe to sustain their living.

The birds were in a doubt to as to how can they find some best hunter birds when they are all extinct. The birds didn't buy the idea, but were scared to oppose the idea, fearing the head of the jungle.

The birds then went home and had an internal discussion amongst their community. They said we can't rely on someone new to find us some great hunter bird. We have resources but they are depleting, that's an other problem to deal with. We have ourselves. We have some worms and some smaller insects to depend on. But they can also get extinct. We have to believe in ourselves, we can hunt and we can, together work and sustain, said the head of the birds.

“Yes" said the group of birds. Everyday the birds started training with the help of an oldest eagle that has retired but has no energy to move out to hunt. The eagle instructed the birds the same way as it does to its own offspring. The eagle never discriminated on who's got how many years of flying experience, who gets the highest worms in the group, or who's having the sharpest sight to gather it's food.

The eagle, one fine day said, “ You all are very much better than my own species. You have the softness, the skill, the strategy and the fastness that maybe we have to learn. You have all graduated successfully in my training. Go knock them all".

The birds were so happy that they were self-sustainable. They went hunting on the same day. They have successfully worked together and gathered some meat for their own community. They had a feast that day.

All this reached the head of the jungle. He just got to upset and called in for a meeting immediately the other day. He roared on the birds and asked them "Why can't you be the little birdies and stick to my decision, why didn't you believe in me? Haven't I allotted you some best recruiters in our jungle?"

The head of the birdies replied "the recruiters wanted someone with unbelievable skills and experience, beloved head. We never wanted to disagree with you. We believe in you, but you tell me, can someone find such a candidate with the following skill set and experience?”

  1. Flying experience— minimum 5 years and maximum 10 years.
  2. Previously should have killed at least a fox and a tiger.
  3. The ones who have just graduated out of flying school are not allowed. Please don't apply.
  4. Should have killed a snake per day.
  5. Sharp sighted and can sight a squirrel from a distance of 5kms.
  6. Those that are injured and have taken a gap year for any personal or professional reason need not apply.
  7. Salary can be discussed based on your hunting skill per day.

The head of the jungle then understood what mistake he has done. He apologized the bird community and told them that, “ I am sorry for having the recruiters done this to you. There cannot be anyone with these kind of experiences and skill sets, not just in your community but in mine too.

He added,

  1. Empathy is very important in this world. We have to understand why someone has taken a year gap or what's the valid reason for it to undergo what it went through. There won't be any difference between us and the humans if we don't have empathy.
  2. Expectations always leads to disappointments. Having high skillsets can also make some leave the group faster. They can never be satisfied with what they get or what they have.
  3. Skillsets have to help solve the problems of the jungle and their own community. What's the point of having great skillset and not knowing how to and where to apply/use it ?
  4. New graduates have so much to offer to the jungle. They are the future of our earth. They have beautiful brains and better understanding, we have to learn from them. They are never a threat to the experienced. Learn from them, the new happenings and skills, teach to them your experience and values.

Lastly, the head of the jungle honored the old eagle and offered him free food for the rest of his life and a job( the advisory of the jungle). He appreciated the eagle and shared some important life lessons to learn from the eagle such as;

  1. Respecting other community.
  2. Knowledge sharing with the other community.
  3. Positivity in thoughts and actions.
  4. No jealousy, hatred and ego.
  5. Lastly the love he shared with the other community.

Also the head of the jungle appreciated the bird community and shared some valid life lessons such as;

  1. Everything is possible if you believe in yourself.
  2. Be brave and don't hesitate to ask for help.
  3. Don't overthink. Put your skill into action.
  4. Believe the positivity in you and around you.

"TOGETHER WE CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING" said the head of jungle with a roar.

THE END.

P.S. Little imagination doesn't hurt your brain. Of course, it is hilarious to imagine it in this way, but what matters the most is the message we all have to grab and maybe apply in our life(including work life). And yes, I have a great imagination. Thank you.
