Recovery, Home, Dream It and Do It!

Recovery, Home, Dream It and Do It!

"For the two of us, home isn't a place. It is a person. And we are finally home."

8:38 a.m. MT, 10:38 a.m. ET, I’ve not slept in that long since college, my body is starting to show signs of age.  Since we live in two time zones every other week, our bodies need a day to catch up. I figured this out about a year ago and now plan for a “recovery day” before jumping back into our work schedules.

We only need this when we go from West to East. When we go the other way we gain two hours, it’s a much more natural transition. On the flight home, my Queen ordered our groceries for the week from Amazon Prime Now.

We got home, put our bags down, and the doorbell rang, our weekly allotment of food was at our front door.  We have not been to a grocery store for over three months if we need something, anything, Amazon will deliver it to either of our homes.

There are benefits to both homes, I love my Western house, but I also love our Eastern house. My favorite part of arriving back home in Indiana is getting to see our cats. It’s silly I know, but we both have a cat in Indiana, and they provide unconditional love.  They seem genuinely happy to see us and can sense when we are about ready to leave.  They like us, have adapted to this unique lifestyle.  My favorite thing about our Western home is arriving at our condo, stepping out on our balcony and merely looking at the mountains and blue sky.

We have decided to begin looking for our next home. We’re going to move to the mountains, keep our condo, for the time being. We need a centrally located “office,” but we are confident our Western plan is a success, it’s time to settle in. I think this might be the last home purchase of our life, we might buy an island home one day, but I can’t see that far down the road. Right now, the thought of having our quaint mountain residence is very appealing.

When we return to Colorado, we will begin the fun process of looking at homes, picking an afternoon or evening to tour our dream home. We will take our time, find our perfect utopia and then spend the next few years making it our home.

In my life, I have had many homes. I lived in Beautiful Parker City in beautiful Main Street home, I went to college and lived in a dorm for one year, before moving to my permanent college home, a place called Dead Ed’s. An apartment that had a “beer keg” on tap 24/7, the walls filled with art, and allowed for some memorable gatherings.

After I received my graduate degree, my wife and I bought a home from my father for $12,500. We fixed it up, bought another house for $6500.00 and after a year sold both renovated houses to buy our dream country home for $47,500. That “farm” was located about 3 miles from my parents home. We owned four acres, a beautiful country home, and a huge barn. I lived there for 17 years.

After 17 years of marriage, my wife and I tapped out, and I had to find a new home. I wanted she and the kids to continue living in our house. I had been the instigator of our divorce; it was up to me to find a new home.

I, along with my brother Ronn, bought a commercial building in downtown Farmland, IN. For five years I lived in a two-floor loft with a walkout rooftop deck. I lived there to be close to my kids as they completed high school.

As our kids got older, I began spending some time with my Queen in her home in Carmel, IN. We spend a few years there and then when all our kids were safely in college, we moved downtown to our Greer street home in Downtown Indianapolis.  That I where I am right now, it is a fantastic space, it looks like something from Colorado. We fly the Colorado flag in Indiana and the Indiana flag in Colorado.

When we made the jump to Colorado, we leased a place by the Bronco’s stadium for six months before deciding to buy a condo downtown Denver.  We did a test run with our cousin, we are good roommates, and so when we bought our condo, “cousin” came along. We now all 3 live in our condo, it’s tight but functional.

For many years we thought we would land in Boulder, CO, but after hearing Joe Rogan talk about Evergreen, CO. I met a man a few months ago that lives in Evergreen, he has become a friend, we’ve now spent some time there, and I think that is our future destination.

I think we might even get a dog. Once we get settled in our final CO home, we’re going to get a dog that can run our property, hike with us I the evenings and weekends; my Queen has already picked out the name, I’m looking forward to finding our new family member.

I have a plan to start another company. It’s my real passion, and our Western home plays a vital role in that idea. I’m not leaving my company but expanding my reach to help a more significant number of young men and women. We were interviewed on a national podcast, I announced my idea, if you want to learn more, I’m sure I’ll link to the show once it’s live.

I know where I’m going. I know where I want to be and I know I can positively impact our world. My life is on a rocket ship screaming towards the heavens, allowing me to provide personal and professional development to hundreds and maybe thousands of people.

I have gifts, and I’m currently working on my gifts so that I can share my wisdom with others.  It is important to me to have a place that can expand the minds of the youth, and that is the purpose of our new mountain home. I plan on developing the minds of the youth and changing my industry.

Where is your home? Is this your final home or do you have aspirations to move to another house, another city, another state, or even another country? I think we will one day have a home in another country; I can’t tell you where because we have no idea, but we know it’s possible and the idea of having homes speckled all over the globe is not a fantasy, it’s our reality.

Create your reality, do not limit your idea of what home can be and start to plan your life this fantastic Sunday morning. We did, we do, and for us, it has made all the difference.

I'm in Littleton, quite close to Evergreen. When I moved here 20+ years ago, that was where I wanted to be. Currently we are in our remodeled home, a once builder spec home that we've customized to our tastes. This has for the most part, been the only home our kids have had, so we are reluctant to move. That and we're comfortable where we are!.
