Recording!
Just last weekend a few yahoos (you had to be there) headed to Perth to begin recording Part 2 of the album...and what a crackin’ weekend that was!
With Part 1 newly released, you might be asking why Part 2 so soon? Well in part 1 we wanted to create a raw, live sound of my solo act. Recently, I have been doing a lot of solo gigs and never had any music to give when asked. So part 1 was to display that solo, singer-songwriter vibe I’ve been doing recently.
However you may remember just earlier this year, we played support for Sheppard (hit song Say Geronimo) and San Cisco. Now Sheppard was one crazy night, with approximatley 7,000 people in attendance and boy did we have fun! It was a full-band show to a packed out park and we played a host of songs that I think should only be played with a band.
Part 1 is a really cool, intimate feel created like there’s somebody singing to you personally in your car or lounge room; and reports back tell me it was a good idea. But still the elephant in the room has been the large sounding, rock band we had blasting out when supporting Sheppard and San Cisco. Enter part 2 - so another musician with the best name (no bias here) Josh Macca (pictured top) has recently recorded the drum tracks to Part 2 of this album. Gees did he get them absolutely nailed. He measured up quite nicely to the professional, session drummer for Sheppard and I had to have him on my album. Our studio engineer and producer has been putting in the time at the studio and says he’s “still waiting for the fizzer you usually get on an album”. Well according to him there is none, I’m obviously very biased, and I agree 100%. So please check out Part 1 which is on iTunes, android and every other musical platform. Next year we do the big launch for the entire album, so stay tuned!
Stay cool :)
