Record Yourself on Video

Record Yourself on Video

Recording youself on video is a step towards doing better business.

Huh?

Allow me to explain.

Speaking on camera forces you to speak out loud. Speaking out loud helps people think better. And people who think better make better business decisions!

But why on camera?

Because it's a stimulus you use to generate energy inside yourself to speak something truthful.

There are three levels on your way.

Video Recording

The first level is making video recordings of yourself.

An exercise I recommend is to use your phone to film yourself on a 60 second walk at some point during the day when you're alone (for example from your car to the office). Look into the camera and ask yourself: "What am I doing now?" And giving an answer out loud. Keep the camera recording for at least 60 seconds.

If you do that weekly, after a few weeks you will find that you have forced yourself to speak better and think better — if the effectiveness level of your communication was currently at 32,679, you will find that it has risen to at least 32,680.

You will also see yourself and your business from a new point of view.

At this level, you take accountability to say something, anything.

YouTube Private

The second level is a Private YouTube channel.

The force that started pushing you after the first level gets stronger if you give time and energy to setting up a private YouTube channel and posting regular videos.

Why?

Because when you rewatch your recordings regularly, you build on thoughts, then entice yourself to speak more, continuing and refining the chain of thought.

At this level, you take accountability to say some things that are at least partially true.

YouTube Public

The third level is setting up and uploading to a Public YouTube channel.

Here, the additional benefit is that you take accountability for your thoughts and speech because you know that there is always a chance for a public channel to be seen by someone.

This forces you to be even more careful and precise when speaking, which again, encourages honesty and clarity of thought.

At this level, you take accountability to say only things about yourself or your business that are wholly true.

Conclusion

A person that goes through the three levels of recording themselves on video, publishing to a private channel, and publishing to a public channel, receives large returns for a small amount of effort — dare I say, returns that would make the Ancient Greeks (whose dictum was "Know Thyself") happy.

In addition to knowing yourself a little bit better, doing this would help you know your business a little bit better, too.

I'd say this can only lead to more good things.

That's the 19th obvious thing I've noticed on this blog.
