A Record-Breaking Month for Eco Brixs
At Eco Brixs, we pay for every kilogram of plastic we receive from the community. This allows us to simultaneously clean up plastic waste and create accessible jobs for people, creating a win-win for people and planet!
To measure this impact we record the weight of all the plastic brought to us. Then, at the end of the month, we tally this information to see how much plastic waste we’ve removed from the environment in total.
Each time we review this data,?it's a celebration amongst our team at Eco Brixs HQ.?Not only does this number?indicate how much we’re recycling, but it also correlates with?how many?jobs we're able to create through plastic collection.?The more we recycle, the more jobs for the community!
In 2022 our monthly average of plastic removed from the environment was 12 tonnes, which increased to 26 tonnes in?2023. So, we’re thrilled to say that in February 2024 we recycled a record-breaking 52 tonnes of plastic waste!
This is by far the most we’ve ever recycled at Eco Brixs. In exchange for this plastic, we paid $9,700 to the local community, helping hundreds of people to earn an income.
We’re incredibly proud of this phenomenal increase in recycling and a huge thank you to everyone for their hard work to make this possible. Now, the aim is to maintain this incredible impact for the rest of 2024! ??
Donate to Eco Brixs and Big Give will Match Your Donation
From midday tomorrow GMT, we’re running a special fundraising campaign in partnership with Big Give . In 2024 we’ve set ourselves the goal of expanding Eco Brixs to three new districts across Southern Uganda: Mbarara, Kabale and Fort Portal. This expansion will collectively recycle 140 tonnes of plastic a month whilst creating 2,000 new jobs for marginalised people.
We’ve successfully raised about a third of the funds required to build this project, but we still have a long way to go.

However, our partners BigGive have stepped up, and for one week only (starting tomorrow), they will match any donation we receive towards this cause, effectively doubling a donation!
Please consider donating?to Eco Brixs over the next week to help us bring recycling to new communities in Uganda.
We’ll share the donation link when the campaign goes live tomorrow. In the meantime, you can hear our CEO Andy talk about growing Eco Brixs in this video.
